At the beginning...
He was born on August 19, 1972 in Ljubljana and now he lives in Logatec, near Postojna.
When he was younger his favorite books were Pippi Longstocking and a collection of fairy tales One Thousand and One Nights. Once he would like to illustrate famous Lindgren's work himself.
Pippi Longstocking was my favourite childhood book. I read it over and over again.
This is thirty-two pages book written by the author of Pippi Longstocking Astrid Lindgren.
Suitable for 3 years old kids and older.
At school Adriano preferred art class and English language.
Professor of art education encouraged him to draw and sketch a lot and took part in the competitions. Two of his creations have been awarded.
In high school Adriano had severe problems with math, so he gave up and left school.
At that time he joined anarcho-pank movement and was listening to Crass, Conflict, Poison Girls. He still like this scene and this music.
After a period of punk, he attended art school of Zmago Modic, where he was taught by Milan Eric, Kiar Mesko, Milan Butina and Stefan Planinc.
At that time he started with his first publications, in a local newspaper of town Kamnik he was publishing comics and cartoons.
He doesn't like realism too much, Adriano prefers to be left to the imagination. He loves the freedom to create, that no one dictates him what the characters must look like. He has used watercolor, gouache, water colors and pencil. It is water colors and gouache that allow him to apply intense colors.
Illustration never seems good enough to him, before it is given to editors. Again and again he discovers another little thing that bothers him and it could be repaired or improved.
But time presses and when he is in a real hurry, Adriano sits on his bike with illustrations or cartoons in a plastic briefcase and speeds to the editors, who are already eagerly waiting for his work.
Computer? Adriano doesn't like it very much. In his spare time he likes to read. When he is not drawing or reading, he is devoted to cooking. Adriano is the master for the preparation of vegetarian dishes.
