Loraine, a retired volunteer elementary art teacher, shares art projects, favorite art blogs, and ideas on how to create art projects.

Over 150 Prepared Elementary Art Projects at Kids & Glitter

Kids & Glitter is an elementary art blog with over 225 individual projects, 150 of them specifically listed under grades one through six. "Classroom Art Projects" is specifically meant to help the classroom teacher by offering prepared art projects. The teacher can choose an art or craft project to use in an art class.

Hopefully the projects here will inspire other ideas to make the classes unique. Each art lesson includes pictures of the project; supplies needed list and directions for making the project.

A number of the art activities for the fourth through sixth grade also include PowerPoint presentations showing the works of a particular artist whose work is being emulated. You'll be doing your teacher friends a favor if you direct them to the Kids & Glitter site. It'll save them tons of time.

"Important Information"

When writing on HubPages, the rules are that there can only be two links to any particular site or blog, so in order to view the different projects that I'm sharing, please click here, Kids & Glitter, and then to the grade Gallery specified in each of the following projects.

I'm sorry for the inconvenience, but rules are to be followed. Thanks for understanding.

Classroom Proven and Shared

All the art projects have been used in a classroom setting. Each class, grades one through six, has over twenty class projects specified for that grade. Many of the activities could be interchanged; the teacher could choose to use activities listed under another class designation. A number of holiday activities are listed under the particular holiday heading. Check these activities to see if they are appropriate for your class.

How to Navigate Kids & Glitter

Go to the Home page of Kids & Glitter. In the right sidebar is a listing of Grades and Holidays in galleries. Click on the grade gallery or holiday gallery and you'll pictures of the projects in that gallery.

Dancing Hearts

Even though we used this lesson as a Valentine gift, it could be changed to be given as a Mother's Day or Father's Day card. Find this lesson, "Dancing Hearts," in the 1st Grade Projects Gallery at Kids & Glitter.

Give a Hoot

Always a favorite of the second graders. We used oil pastels on black construction paper for this class. Check this project out by choosing "Give a Hoot." in the 2nd Grade Projects Gallery at Kids & Glitter.

Draw What You See

This is a great project to help the students learn to draw what they see, not what they know. Find "Draw What You See" in the 5th Grade Projects Gallery at Kids & Glitter.

Gaston Chaissac on Glass

The "Gaston Chaissac on Glass" lesson plan and PowerPoint presentation project can be found in the 5th Grade Project Gallery in the sidebar at Kids & Glitter.

We talked about how each artist has their own style and how different their art is even though the subject of art is the same. Go to the 6th Grade Projects Gallery on Kids & Glitter for the PowerPoint and directions for this lesson that we call "Roosters."

Bright and Beautiful Britta

What fun this class was. As you may have noticed I love vibrant colors and the artists that use them. For more information on this art class, go to "Bright and Beautiful Britta" in the 6th Grade Projects Gallery at Kids & Glitter.

Moonlit Snow Flurries

This is probably more a winter project than a Christmas project, but the results are beautiful. This is a picture you'll want to frame. Go to"Moonlit Snow Flurries" in the Christmas Projects Gallery at Kids & Glitter to direct you to the instructions.

White Trees on Black

This is so beautiful in its simplicity. You can find the "White Trees on Black" project in the Christmas Projects Gallery in the sidebar on Kids & Glitter.

Pastel Pom Pom Birds

The students learn how to make pom-poms first, then they make these colored pastel birds. The "Pastel Pom-Pom Birds" can be found in the Easter Projects Gallery on the Kids & Glitter website.

Paper Plate Easter Basket

Make this cute Easter decoration, "Paper Plate Easter Basket," by going to Kids & Glitter for the patterns and directions. You'll find the information under the Easter Projects Gallery in the sidebar.

Pilgrim Wreath

To see how the "Pilgrim Wreath" was put together, go to the Thanksgiving Projects Gallery, in the sidebar, at Kids & Glitter.

Hearts and Flowers

I love Kathy Kromer's art and this art lesson tries to imitate her look. To make the "Hearts and Flowers" art using our method, go to Kids & Glitter and find it in the Valentine's Day Projects Gallery.

American Indian Moccasins

To find out more about how these "Native American Moccasins" are made, go to the Miscellaneous Projects Gallery on the Kids & Glitter site.

Make a bunch of angry birds using empty box containers. Go to the Miscellaneous Projects Gallery on Kids & Glitter for the directions to make these "Angry Birds."

Heavenly Daze

Tell Your Teacher Friends

the angels that watch over the kids

I hope you have enjoyed this little overview of the projects available on Kids and Glitter. When I first put them on the blog I only intended it for my own use. But, after I found out how many different projects I had, I thought possibly classroom teachers or homeschool teachers might find them useful also. So if you know of any teacher or homeschooler that you think would find the Kids and Glitter website advantageous, I invite you to send them the address.Find the directions for "Heavenly Daze," under the 2nd Grade Projects Gallery on Kids & Glitter.
