I love to share my favorite patterns on the web for people out there who like making things as much as I do!

Knifty Knitter Green Round Loom Patterns

My favorite thing to knit on the green round loom is hats. They are usually just the right size to fit a small adult or a teenager. This loom measures 9 inches wide. It has 36 pegs and can be used to knit other garments as well. There are free patterns on this page that show you how to use it for knitting bags, stoles, place mats, and scarves. Knitting in the round is fun. It is also very easy to work with this compact loom.

If you don't have a Knifty Knitter brand loom, you can substitute the Boye brand orange round loom for all of these patterns. It is approximately the same size and number of pegs.

Knifty Knitter Scrap Hats Pattern

Scrap Hats
Scrap Hats

Kids Scrap Hat

This pattern can be made using a full skein of yarn or piecing several strands of scrap yarn together. This hat is the right size for small adults, kids and teens. If you want a baby hat, use a slightly smaller loom. For the Knifty Knitter looms by Provo Craft that is a red loom for babies.

Skill Level: Beginner

You will need:

  • 9 inch round loom (36 pegs)
  • a crochet hook
  • Knifty Knitter hook
  • a skein of medium weight yarn, scraps of extra yarn to be used up

Instructions to knit the scrap hat:

  1. Cast on using the e wrap. (For new knitters, this is a cursive e with the yarn crossing on the inside of the loom.)
  2. Knit 30 rows. After your first hat you can adjust the length by adding or reducing rows, but this is a good average length.
  3. Cut the working yarn 12 inches long.
  4. Using the working yarn and a yarn needle, sew through each loop as you remove it from the loom.
  5. Pull it tight to close the hat and tie a square knot. This is the top of the hat.
  6. The other end of the knit, the brim of the hat, will naturally roll up.

May I get the pattern for the Flag Place Mats? The links take me to Cricut and to a green (not green round loom) place mat pattern. Thanks.
