It's great to know that your mother used to make knitted animals and given them away to local hospitals must have made her feel really proud of her craft. Thank you for your comment joaniebaby.

My mother used to make all different animals by knitting or crocheting. Then she would give them to the local hospital who in turn gave them to the babies born there. I even have an old newspaper article about my mother and her "animals." Thanks for your ideas.

I have no sewing skills whatever. But I'm voting this Up and Useful for the many who do practice the craft on HP.
