My Collection of YouTube Crochet Videos

Updated on September 12, 2014

YouTube Crochet Videos Created by HSSchulte

Crochet has been a hobby of mine as long as I can remember. My mother and grandmother were both skilled at crochet. Over the past few years, I began sharing my crochet projects here at Squidoo. I also created a YouTube channel with crochet and knitting videos. My goal is to share my love of spinning yarn with others in a fun and simple way.

This page serves as a directory of my videos here at Squidoo. I love feedback, so if you have a question or comment, leave me a note at the bottom of the page.

How to Crochet an African Flower Video

This is a video explaining how to crochet the African flower seen in the freeze frame. It's one of my favorite things to crochet and it is really very easy. Once we create the flower, I show you how to make a hexagon border around it, so that it might be used to make quilts and other large crochet projects, just as a granny would be. If you've ever wanted to make a hexagon blanket, give this a try.

How to Crochet a Rose

This is a basic crochet rose. It's made as a long chain of petals and then wound and sewn into position to look like a rose. If you'd like written instructions for this project, visit: How to Crochet a Rose to see my article with step by step photos, rather than a video.

Puffy Flower Granny Squares

How to Crochet Puffy Flowers

I enjoy crocheting these puffy flowers. You can make them into granny squares or use them as embellishment for other craft projects. I like to knit blankets, so I sometimes use them to embellish finished blankets.

Crochet the Edge of a Loom Knit Blanket

As I mentioned above, I loom knit blankets. One thing I like to do to dress them up a bit is crochet the finished edge. Other loom knitters that don't crochet often ask how this is done, so I created this video to show where the crochet hook is inserted into each knit stitch.

This is a fun applique pattern that I crocheted to resemble a large slice of watermelon. I used it to adorn a craft project that I was making for my granddaughter. Here is the link to the written instructions "How to Crochet a Watermelon Slice Applique" for those of you that prefer written instructions, or you can watch the video instructions below.

Crochet the Crocodile Stitch

This is a crochet project that is a lot of fun. It probably isn't for a beginner, but once you have a little experience at crochet and can do most stitches this is a fun project. It is fun to do in a rainbow of colors, but it also looks just as striking in solids because of the layering effect. You can find written instructions with step-by-step photos at "How to Crochet the Crocodile Stitch" or check out the video below.

How to Crochet a Granny Square

How to Crochet a Granny Square

Granny squares are a traditional crochet project. I think all crocheters love squares because you can join them together to make anything from blankets and scarves to slippers. I like to use large granny squares as dish cloths. They are quick and easy to make and they brighten the kitchen. Here is my written instructions to make a granny square yourself, "How to Crochet a Granny Square," with photos for each step. If you prefer videos, the instructions below will walk you through each step of a basic square.

This is how you begin a crochet project with a ring that you want to cinch smaller, or closed later. It's called a magic adjustable ring and it's pretty easy to make.

Shell Stitch iPad Cover

The shell stitch is one of the prettiest crochet stitches, so it adds a feminine appeal to this iPad cover. You can see the written instructions at "How to Crochet an iPad Cover."
