Capturing Nature's beauty in photography is food for my soul. I live in a beautiful agricultural landscape with rows of trees and old creeks

Poetry and Photography: My Books

Poetry and Photography: two beautiful forms of Art.

I won't call myself a Poet, nor a Photographer, I merely am an amateur performer in both skills, but writing poetry and photographing nature's beauty have given me so much pleasure in my life.

In the passed years I've been a member of different Poetry websites, but the one closest to my heart was Piptalk.com , where I've made friends for life.

I like to combine my photos with my poetry and call them Rhyming Images. Sometimes the photo makes me want to write a poem, sometimes the poem needs a fitting image.

Love Poems & Sonnets of William Shakespeare - Shakespeare: the Poet of Poets

Who doesn't know the Poet of poets,

the man of tales in beautiful rhyme.

Shakespear is dead, but his words

keep wandering through eternel time.

I just love Shakespear's Sonnets, you too?

My books are a combination of Poetry and Photography

My thoughts penned down

One day I just started to combine my love for writing rhymes and photographing nature's beauty and I call them my Rhyming Images. I put them together in 5 little books: my Rhyming Images Series.

"I call them Rhyming Images, the photos of my land,

combined with words that sometimes rhyme,

creations formed by eye and hand".

Bird of Prey - My spirit free

A flight in air, my spirit free,
roaming skies, my love you'll be.
Colourful in splash of ink,
deep in your heart, my soul will sink.

A watching eye, protectively,
in the flight of love, I can be me.
Downhill to top, our lives progress,
with no more secrets to confess.

When life will end, I'll roam the sky,
my spirit free in loving care.
I'm a raptor but dove by heart,
knocked over smoothly by your art.

My words to my husband's beautiful aquarelle.

Passions in Poetry - A Family of Friends

Marge Tindal was one of the poets I met on the poetry website Passions in Poetry and she became my friend for life after meeting her in 2002, when I travelled to the USA to meet some of the poets I had met on the website.

She was a very talented poet, who wrote thousands of poems in her own style.

She loved full moons and when she passed away on January 26, 2009, I wrote her a moon poem each month on full moon in the way she would have liked it.

In a tribute to her memory, I've collected all her moon poems and put them in a book as a memory gift for her children, including my own farewell moon poems.

I always wonder how it can be, that one develops such strong feelings of love for someone whom you've met only once and who lived an ocean away. I really don't know, but somehow our friendship was true and deep and I still miss her.

Yesterday's Love
Yesterday's Love

I can say it's a beautiful book, it keeps your attention from page one to the end, where all things merge together.

My friend Karilea Rilling Jungel wrote a book - Yesterday's Love - a novel

Karilea Rilling Jungel is one of the poets I"ve met on the website Passions in Poetry.

Besides poetry, she wrote a novel and it's a very good one, that's why I want to spotlight her here.

It's about relatioships and love, about the past and the present and mysteries.

I'm not revealing more, you should read it yourself.

Kimberley B's Chaotic Poetry

When the mind has a mind of its own

Kimberley Benton is a wonderful woman who has the tough luck to suffer from Schizoaffective Bi Polar Disorder.

She was one of the people who was writing her poetry on Piptalk.com the website were I started to write my poems in English. I was very moved by her poetry.

A Quote:

There is depth in the writings of Kimberly B. She reveals her feelings down to the core of her very being. Even in exasperation, her poetry expresses warmth... Kimberly B. cares deeply and it shows in her work. She is a complex writer "Kimberly B's Chaotic Poetry and Writings" Is worth the read.

I promote this book, because Kimberley is one of my fellow poets on piptalk.com and I think her book is worth reading.

Shaped Poetry - a playful challenge with given words

On one of the poetry sites I have been a membe of, poets could organize these playful challenges in which everybody could participate. After closing time the organizing poet choose the 1-2-3 best poems and awarded those with a gold, silver or bronze award.

It was a lot of fun to do and one of the challenges I entered, was to write a poem about the posing if rhyme in poetry was still of this time and we had to use an amount of given words.

The words that were given were the following and we use at least one from each row.

  • more, before, chore, your, soar, wore, adore, implore
  • glow, snow, flow, slow, woe, ago, so, bestow
  • lie, goodbye, why, deny, defy, reply, fly, sky
  • dream, beam, deem, scheme, scream, redeem, esteem, scene
  • depart, start, chart, heart, smart, impart, Descartes, dart
  • clean, green, between, been, keen, lean, mean, queen,

I used the bolded words in my poem which you can read below. I used the form 'Shaped Poetry', also calle 'Concrete Poetry', which means poetry written in a certain form.

Poetry for the love of it

2002 Sanford, Florida, USA

I took a masters class today,

in nature's art gallery.

As am just an amateur,

a pro I'll never be--

but nature has caught my soul

and in her beauty I will drown,

while she's dancing passionately

in her colorful gown.

So here I am, an amateur,

flirting with a pro.

Sometimes she flirts back to me,

performing a lightening show.

      Photos in Flight

      Your words are weak

      your words are strong

      with a passonate tweak

      emerges your heart song.

      *

      Watch the words

      that pass your lips

      like magical birds

      with wings clipped.

      *

      Time put in

      a well spent endeavor

      picture, paper, pen

      she's oh so clever.

      *

      There's no magic

      photos and words

      nothing tragic

      just unclipped birds.

Your images are so very charming. My daughter writes a lot of poetry and I think your art style would suit her words and images very much. I will suggest to her that she experiment with this style when she has more free time.

This is inspiring. I love photography and had wondered what to do with all the lovely images. Guess I'll have to start writing poems to go with them.

I hope you'll make a lens about your mom and her computer. People are always amazed at my mom (87) using the computer. She scans old photos and sends them to me by email.
