Do Something Really Cool To Celebrate!

I get all excited about National Crochet Month! The designation was started by the Crochet Guild of America (CGOA) decades ago as a celebration of everything crochet! As a crochet designer, it's a great chance to celebrate the one thing that truly lights up my life on a daily basis, no matter what else may be going on - CROCHET! What an amazing thing crochet is!

Do you crochet? Have you always wanted to learn? Have you been looking for ways to "give back to the universe" by crocheting for charity? Well, here's your chance!

Read on, and maybe you'll find just what you are looking for! Happy crocheting, everyone!

OH and PS - if you'd like to get this fun crochet theme tote to show your crochet pride, it's available below! All proceeds benefit my Miniature Schnauzer Rescue, Sheila's Schnauzies.

Featuring my original artwork, this crochet tote is just one of the many crochet themed designs I have available through my CafePress store!

My Motto...

"Crochet is the ink with which I will sign my life." –SheilaSchnauzies

My Favorite Crochet Goodies At Amazon! - I own and love every one of these!

ArtBin Yarn Drum 12-inches round by 12-3/4-inches high, Periwinkle

I've used every manner of yarn tote out there, and this is by far the best I've tried! I own this one in a Raspberry color. It weighs virtually nothing. It has two convenient yarn pull-throughs on top, and there's a separate detachable zipper tote you can stash your hooks, cash, ID, etc. in. Perfect for a day of crocheting on the go! Right now mine is filled with 10 large balls of crochet thread! It holds 6-8 skeins of yarn easily as well. I just can't say enough about it! I know one thing, I'm planning to buy it in all the other colors!

What Crochet Can Do...

It can provide you with an amazing hobby to keep your hands busy

It can give you a way to help others by making and donating needed items for comfort and warmth

It can give you ideas for fabulous gifts for friends and relatives

It can give you a whole lot of new things to do online and new crochet friends to meet!

The Most Important Thing...

Take a photo of everything you make! If you give the item away, you'll be able to remember it. If you want to show it off online in a crochet group, you'll have it. This is a lesson I wish I had learned many years ago. There are lots of items I made and gave away that I have no record of.

One of my "Lifetime Dream" Projects

What's yours?

I had a whole lot of free time on my hands several years ago when we moved to a house in the middle of nowhere in southeast Missouri. My husband was traveling, and it was just me and the Schnauzers for days on end. I decided I wanted to design filet crochet curtains for my windows. I wanted them to look like stained glass colors. So I designed a different dog picture for each square of the curtains, and managed to make about 30 of them - enough to make valances for three big windows! It was extremely fun finding enough different colors of crochet thread - I wanted each one to be different.

I used to watch my grandmother crochet for hours on end - this lense takes me back to those days. Thank you for sharing.

Looks like I missed National Crochet Week this year. My daughter has taken to crocheting and is just loving it...her needles are never far away these days.

Crocheting is something I'l like to learn to do someday, once my kids are all grown up. One of my cherished possessions is a piece of crochet that someone made me for Christmas one year.

If I made a jacket for our cat, I'd end up wearing it.
