Very nice and useful book. I have it myself. Many unexpected solutions and beautiful flowers can be find in it. I would recommend it for beginners. Book contains many illustrations, written instructions and graphical diagrams for crocheting flowers.

Understanding instructions

Sometimes it can be hard to understand crocheting instructions. For the experienced crocheters it should not cause any problems. Beginners may encounter problems while understanding the abbreviations used. There are several basic stitches you should know:

1. Chain stitch (ch). It is very basic stitch, usually used for foundations ring and making loops for petals.

2. Slip stitch (sl st). This stitch is used for joining and finishing rings, petals and other details.

3. Single crochet (sc). This is basic crochet stitch. This stitch is the main stitch for amigurumi making. You should learn it well.

4. Double crochet (dc). Basic stitch, that also must be learned. Use it for petals combining with single crochet.

Also you should learn half double crochet (hdc) and triple crochet (tc). With only 6 stitches many flowers can be crocheted. Many useful resources can be found on the Internet to learn basic stitches.

Linen yarns on eBay

In the country I live it is very easy to find 100% linen yarns. They can be bought on almost every yarn shop. And I like use linen yarns while crocheting. I tried looking for 100% linen yarns on the internet, and found some difficulties while doing this. I am not sure, if it is because linen is unpopular. These are many interesting yarns such as linen+cotton and others, but pure linen is hard to be found. I suggest you looking to these eBay products. Try yourself. Linen is very nice yarn to crochet. It gives very original results. Happy crocheting.

I don't crochet, but my grandmother made me many crocheted flowers, mostly roses. She made hundreds of them for her friends and family.
