Now presenting... Nicoinstitches (me!)

Updated on December 30, 2014

Writing an article about myself is one of the toughest lens' I've had to write. So here is a major side of me. My crafty side!

I love to cross-stitch, make buttons, watercolor, knitting and much more!

Visit me on Etsy, Facebook and Twitter.

I am also a military wife.

I opened my Etsy shop two years ago when I found myself buried in the many cross stitches I made. My coworker told me all about Etsy and I was hooked, both as a buyer and a seller. The following are some of my items for sale.

My first crafts were cross-stitches but I have since diversified into knitting, jewelry, watercolour, patterns and more. I love trying new things. I try to keep my prices low, but lately postage is exploding. I truly love what I do so it makes it worth it. I always jump a little when I get a sale.

A work of art is the unique result of a unique temperament.

A crafting journey

I picked up cross-stitch one day out of pure boredom. My sister had done some when I was a kid and I loved the way you could create something from nothing.

I've come a long way since then. I now cross-stitch, do watercolours, knit, needle felt, make jewelry and more. I am in the process on learning how to crochet and paint with acrylics! I just love to learn new crafts.

Crafting is very important to me as my husband is frequently away with the military. My crafts often keep me sane for the long winter months alone.

I opened Nicoinstitches, my Etsy shop on August 6th 2011.

You can find my shop at:

Persistence and a lot of patience are required in selling crafts. I do not make millions with my shop but I love what I do and want to share it with the world. It's amazing to think that my crafts are now all over the world. You can also find me at local craft fairs like the Stittsville flea market.

My crafting habits could be called a journey, and thankfully this journey will continue on.

Beautiful cross stitch work and nicely done article. One RocketSquid tip....personalize the title 'New Guestbook Comments' with some key words from the Introduction. Thank you to your husband for his service to our Country.

I still pull out the embroidery and crafts around Christmas. But, I seldom get anything finished over the holidays. Most of my craft work is in clothing repair these days.
