Quilter, author, tutor, columnist, Jan T Urquhart Baillie has been enthusing others with her passion for quilting for more than 30 years.

Quilts and Halloween go so well together

In this hub I have designed a few quilts, and sourced some fabrics and books, as well as software, to give you a heads up on your new scary halloween quilts.

Have fun quilting up a Halloween storm!

Every holiday is an excuse to make another quilt

Halloween is no exception

You can add some scary fun and spice up your decor with these great designs from me and Electric Quilt.

The design

This is a very simple quilt design, that can easily be altered for any occasion, Christmas, Valentines Day...

The layout is called a two block, block to block, straight set design, which means that each block is sewn directly to the next, with no sashing (lattice) strips between, alternating the two blocks across the rows.

The pumpkin block is foundation paper pieced and the black cat is appliquéd.

Electric Quilt 7 - software for designing quilts

The quilts on this page were designed in EQ7, using blocks from the 5000 plus library.

I have been using Electric Quilt software since EQ V1 in 1992, when I was asked to review the software for Down Under Quilts in my column.

There are so many Halloween blocks and ways to design quilts, I know you will love it.

      Hi Jan;

      I love halloween and love to sew, what a perfect combo you created. I am a fellow RM and was scanning through the Squidboo challenges came across yours and couldn't resist when it comes to sewing.

      I love to sew and have started a few lenses on slipcovering but planning many many more. As they say too much squidooing and too little time. Thanks for the inspiration.

      Love the lens and have favorited it. Will be sure to add to one of my upcoming lenses.
