Backward Rose Snowflake Free Crochet Pattern
The Finale Item In The Backward Rose Series –For A While! – The Round Motif Or Snowflake!
Long ago, in a land far away... (actually last summer, here in Nebraska) I created a new design called the Backward Rose. There was the original rose motif, then there was a doily, a mini-doily, and so on. You can get the patterns to all of those below. I planned a grand "finale," a round motif which could be used as a snowflake for the winter at Christmastime. or to do in multiple for larger projects.
Can you imagine an entire bedspread of Backward Roses done in a whole bouquet of thread colors? Wow... I can... it would be one of those lifetime dream projects for me! All you have to do to join additional motifs is to do a point-to-point joining with chain-4's back and forth. Piece of cake!
I'm excited about moving on to other designs now, but this Backward Rose project will always be my special "baby." Probably because it took me so many years to get what was in my head as a picture out into tangible form! Gotta love that flash of inspiration, whenever and wherever it finally does arrive!
Hope you will enjoy crocheting this ultra mini doily, snowflake, or motif in multiples!
What You'll Need...
Small amounts of Perle Cotton in your choice of colors for rose, leaves, and snowflake background. You may also want to choose a pretty metallic thread for a border, such as Kreinik fine metallic braid or DMC's Spool Metallic Thread.
The item shown was made with rose and leaves in Perle Cotton. The background was made with size 30 thread held together with DMC Spool Metallic Thread in Silver. The border was crocheted in Kreinik Very Fine Braid in color 102 Gold.
The entire item will also work out just fine crocheted in any size crochet cotton as long as you use the same size for each color change.
You'll need a crochet hook in size 8 or your preferred size, and a hook for hanging.
Schnauzer Difficulty Rating Intermediate
Isn't crocheting relaxing!
