A Fun Idea:

Go a step further with your teacup pincushion craft by gluing the matching saucer to the bottom of the teacup. You can keep small spools of thread, buttons or safety pins on the saucer rim! Cute and practical!

A fun recycling or upcycling project

It is fun to search thrift shops, antique stores and yard sales for orphaned tea cups to use in this recycling project! There are always an abundance of mugs, tea cups and saucers in an endless array of designs and colors. These teacup pincushions are also easy enough to make with kids and to give as gifts for Christmas, Mother's Day or birthdays!

Pincushion Inspiration

Scrub Buds

Sew a Scrub Bud into the middle of your pincushions...the metal sharpens your pins every time you push them in!

A Hidden Sharpener

During the assembly of your pincushion, bury one of these Scrub Buds in the middle of your padding and then continue as usual. Every time you push a pin or a needle into the cushion, it will be automatically sharpened for its next use! This is a nifty little trick I learned that is easy to do and gives much added benefit to your pincushion project!

Fun Idea for Extra Income

These teacup pincushions would be a fun idea for a flea market or craft show table. They are fast and easy to make so you could build up an inventory very quickly. Plus, they can be customized in so many fun ways! Search yard sales, thrift stores and flea markets for vintage or unique tea cups and matching saucers for cheap. This could be a low-cost product that could reap excellent profits!

You can find handmade pincushions like the ones on this page from sellers at Etsy.com and other marketplaces online. They are handy to have around and super cute so buyers are more likely to stop and take a look!

I'm pretty lame with sewing projects, but everyone needs a pincushion, if even just for mending projects.
