Updated on January 24, 2013

Trip Around the World Scrapbook

A trip around the world for many is a once in a lifetime adventure. Creating a great trip around the world scrapbook once you return is a great way to remember your travels. It is fun and personal and can let your share the best of your adventure with friend or family. Sometimes though it is best to have an idea of what you want before you go.

Before You Go - Be Prepared

Make it Personal - Be Prepared

An old Girl Guide saying that applies here. Think about your scrapbook BEFORE you actually travel.

I learnt this from my sister who is a naturally talented scrap-booker. Every time she went away she would collect all the tickets, postcards, paper drink holders etc. When she returned home she would then combine these with her photos or mine if I went too. I would end up with a photo album and she would end up with a magical and quite beautiful scrapbook of memories.

Tips for a Trip Around the World Scrapbook

Organising a trip around the world is a big task. There is a lot of paperwork before you go. As you can see from marynbtol's photo above much of this information can then be used in your scrapbook.

  1. Keep everything that you can

Start with all the documentation and itineraries both flight and actual itineraries of what you intend to do in that country. If you are "winging it" like I did and don't know where you are going or when once in the country then keep a list as you go. All this can be used later for your travel scrapbook.

Note: I appreciate that when you are travelling independently you may not want to carry too much more than your rucksack however some bits should fit in without too much trouble.

  2. Take decent photos

Make sure your photos are in focus. Make sure you get pictures of you and of the scenery that you see. Get in the local culture if it is different from your own.

  3. Find Unusual Things

Add drama find unusual things to take photos of or choose unusual angles or lighting. This adds drama and effect for when you put your pictures in your scrapbook.

3 Different ways to Organise your Trip for Scrapbooking

  1. If you are like me you will probably just do it in chronological order which is the most natural yet probably least creative way to organise your trip.

    1.Thailand

    2. Australia

    3. Fiji

    4. New Zealand

    5. USA

  2. Another way would be to organise by like for like subjects. So if you did say five big cities you could put them all together for instance. Or if you did gardens the same would apply.

    1. Cities & Towns

    2. Beaches

    3. Temples and History

    4. Nutty sporting activities

    5. Adventure

  3. Things you liked doing or seeing best

    1. Milford Trek

    2. Swimming with Dolphins

    3. Sydney by Boat

    4. The floating city Thailand

    5. Christmas fare & Tony Robbins Event in Palm Springs

I am currently trying to backtrack and do all this for our past holidays. Luckily I kept little shopping bags on each trip for putting all the bits and pieces in. Wish I had collected more from our honeymoon in china though. We were there a month and I only have a few small items. I will learn for the future to collect more.
