For some strange reason, it seems that almost everyone I know has a random collection of used wine corks. When I ask them what they're saving them for, the answer is invariably the same: "Oh, I'm not sure. I thought I'd save them for a fun craft project, but I don't know what!" Indeed, I am one of those people who have a rather large collection of corks that I've been saving for an unknown project, needing only a lightning bolt of inspiration.

This is a compilation of a few fun ideas for crafty ways to reuse or 'upcycle' wine corks. You can use this list as inspiration to spark your own creative project using recycled wine corks, and you can follow the links to see step-by-step instructions for any of these projects.

Upcycled Wine Cork Bath Mat Project - Tutorial by Crafty Nest

This awesome project by Crafty Nest looks pretty simple. The hardest part may be collecting 175 wine corks! Ok, well, I take that back. I bet between me, my friends, and my family - who all seem to have purposeless wine cork collections - 175 corks isn't entirely above expectations... But if you don't happen to be a wine drinker (or know any wine drinkers) there is always eBay!!

Take a look at this cool blog and see the instructions for this fun upcycled wine cork bath mat project here.

Upcycled Wine Corks Handcarved Stamps

This is a quick and easy step-by-step tutorial for how to make your own handmade stamps from old wine corks. You can carve your own design from the end of the cork and use your choice of ink or paint to create your own lovely stamped words or images!

This is from my own blog, and I created this tutorial after I had the idea to make my own stamps for a painting I was making at the time. I wanted to paint a repeating flower pattern around the edges, but I didn't want to spend hours doing it, so I carved myself a cute little flower stamp! It was so easy to make and I had so much fun, that I kept going and made a whole bunch of others including this sweet 'Love' stamp set. Read all about it by clicking the link above and see more photos and instructions to make your own adorable handcarved stamps!

More Handcarved Wine Cork Stamps - Mustaches!

I had so much fun with the first handcarved stamps that I had to revisit the project, this time using the long edge of the cork as a surface for my stamp.

In honor of Movember, where men all over the US grow mustaches for the month of November and use their sexy 'staches to raise money for research in men's health issues (prostate cancer, testicular cancer), I created a tutorial for these fun mustache-shaped stamps.

I don't think I have to tell you that mustache stamps are pretty fun to have around...I have used these stamps to make homemade gift tags, gift boxes, wall art, and bookmarks. See how I made these handcarved mustache wine cork stamps here!

I like the stamps made from corks. The bathmat comes in second. I used all my corks last year to make Christmas wreaths. (Yes, I made a lens!)
