Vintage Jar Labels

Updated on September 28, 2014

Vintage Labels on Bottles and Jars

If you're a big fan of vintage jar labels, you're at the right place. These graphic designs from years past adorned jars and bottles for all sorts of products like perfume, soap, apothecary items, food, beverages, and more.

You can print these vintage jar labels to use on your own bottles and jars. With some decoupage medium, a paintbrush, and one of these labels, your old pickle jars and brown vitamin bottles can look vintage in no time.

Save Bottles and Add Vintage Jar Labels

If you buy vitamins or any products in brown jars, save the jars. They are the perfect backdrop for vintage jar labels. Clear jars work well too. I've saved some great pickle and olive jars to dress up with vintage jar labels.

A friend gave me the bottles shown in the introduction paragraph (above) because she didn't know what to do with them but didn't want to throw them away or just recycle them. They still had the old paper labels on them, half torn off. I soaked the jars to remove the paper labels and then dried them.

Then I added some vintage labels I printed using Mod Podge decoupage medium. I also added a thin layer over the top of the labels to help protect them from wear. Then I returned them to my friend so she could use them for storage or just set them in her bathroom or somewhere on a shelf.

The bottle shown here is a liquor bottle with a vintage label added. I also wrapped some vintage pink rick rack and a vintage earring charm around the neck.

These are really sweet - I make jams, chutneys and marmalade all year round so these would make them extra decorative if I was to give them as gifts. Great ideas!

I always loved those vintage fruit crate labels - they're so vibrant and beautiful. Vintage labels look so much more appealing than the mass -produced ones.

I like the idea of using vintage jar labels - I did this at Halloween last year to add fun things like warning labels onto drink bottles. But by prettying up some jars I can add new features around the home and give some as gift containers too.
