Cricut Cards and Cricut Scrapbook Page Ideas

Making Cricut Cards and Scrapbooking Layouts Using the Cricut
Here are 19 Cricut Card Ideas and 2 Cricut Scrapbook Layouts for you to try. I enjoy sharing my love of making Cricut Cards, Cricut Projects, Cricut Scrapbooking Layouts, and other paper crafts. I know that a lot of you have Cricuts, but you need Cricut Card Ideas and Scrapbooking Layouts Using the Cricut.
Since Provocraft introduced the Cricut, thousands of people have bought them. However, like any new gadget, many just sit in the box collecting dust. Others are used, but not to their potential. QVC and other infommercials get you excited to buy the Cricut, and they make it look as easy as a blow dryer to use. Unfortunately, when the machines arrive, it can be overwhelming!
I hope to inspire you with great Cricut Card ideas and other Cricut projects. No matter which version of the Cricut you own, blow the dust off of it, gather some paper and adhesive, and have some fun! The best way to learn how to use it, is to get some scrap paper and jump in and try it!

Buying Cricut Cartridges
NEVER pay full price!
I owned a scrapbook store for 9 years, and made Cricut Cards and Scrapbooking Layouts Using the Cricut every day, but I never sold Cricut Cartridges. That may seem strange, but let me explain.
There are several places to purchase Cricut Cartridges on sale. All of the big box Craft Stores carry them and often have sales. You can get them regularly for $39.99, $29.99 or cheaper. There are many online stores that carry a fill line of cheap Cricut Cartridges as well. Oh My Crafts has bundle sales all the time. With the discounts, you can also get older cartridges for $15-$20 each if you purchase a certain number at a time. If you don't have the money to put out for that many at once, get an order together with some friends.
I have found the best deals on Ebay. Even the newly released and hard to find Cricut cartridges are cheaper than full price. If you are patient and wait a little bit after the cartridge has been released, you can get almost any cartridge for under $40.00. Cartridges that have been out for awhile, often sell for around $25.00.
Always buy Cricut Cartridges for your card and scrapbooking projects when they are on sale!

Toucan Cricut Birthday Card
Here is a really simple Cricut Card Idea. This toucan was cut at 3 1/2" using the Life Is A Beach Cricut Cartridge. I used a piece of patterned paper as a background and solid cardstock to mat it. "It's Your bird-day" is from My Pink Stamper.

Christmas Cricut Card
Cricut Christmas Cards are very popular. My Mom made this awesome card using the Paper Doll Dress Up and Christmas Cheer Cartridges. The front of the card says, "Merry Christmas to all", and the inside says, "and to all a good night!" This is an example of a pop up card, so that when you open it, the inside is dimensional.
Merry Christmas to all.... - ....and to all a Good Night.

The sentiments were typed and printed on the computer. To complete the card, she added a pom pom to Santa's hat and a snowflake punched from foil paper. The reindeer reins are fiber leftover from another project. If you look closely at the moon, you will see that it has snowflakes embossed on it. It was done using the Cuttlebug...another fun cardmaking tool! What a great Cricut Card Idea!
Inside of Card

The card pops up as you open it making Santa and his sleigh, pulled by 2 adorable reindeer, fly across the moon.

Strawberry Cricut Card
Here is another Cricut Card Idea. This is a simple card, but the bright, bold colors make a big impact. The strawberry is from the Hello Kitty Cricut Cartridge. I bought the cartridge on clearance for $12, and I didn't think I'd use it much. However, after opening the package, I was happy to discover that there are lots of extra shapes beside the Hello Kitty Character. There is a great cupcake, flower, and butterfly that i use often. Go to the Cricut Website and explore Cricut cartridges before deciding which ones to purchase. Most cartridges have accessories that you wouldn't think about!

Tips on Using Your Cricut
1. Make sure the Cricut Mat you are using is flat. Wrinkled or bowed mats give poor results. If your mat doesn't have any adhesive left on it, your images may not cut correctly.
2. Pressure and speed settings are very important. Blade depth is also crucial. Most of the paper I cut is thick cardstock. I use the 5-5-5 rule. I set the pressure, speed, and blade depth on 5. If you are cutting lighter weight cardstock, adjust back to 4-4-4 until you find what works best for you. Not all Cricut Machines are alike. I may be able to cut something on my machine at 4-4-4 and you may have to adjust your machine to 5-5-5 to cut the same material.
3. I do not recommend cutting very light weight paper. It will probably work fine with large shapes with little detail, but cuts with lots of detail or very tiny items, often snag and rip. It is also difficult to remove light weight paper from the sticky mat without tearing it.
4. Very thin or small cuts are difficult to cut in a small size. For example, I love the Calligraphy Collection Cartridge, but it is a very thin font. Cutting letters at 1" often yield poor results.
5. Images that requiring layering like the Disney Characters, are easiest to cut in larger sizes. A 4" Cinderella has teeny tiny lips and eyes. Imagine how tiny they would be if you were trying to make a 2" Cinderella!

Cow Cricut Card - Intermediate Cricut Card Idea

This Cricut Card is a little more involved, but it's still pretty easy to make. I used the Cricut Create A Critter to make the cow. I added two different patterns of paper to the card, and a black cardstock border. I punched the top of the black border with a bug and flower punch from Martha Stewart, and I punched the bottom with a Stampin' Up Punch. Then I matted the pink floral papers onto black cardstock and added a pink ribbon where the two patterned papers meet. This is a simple Cricut Card Idea to copy!

At our town Christmas Parade, I kept noticing how wonderful the signs were on the Town Council and other dignitary's cars. I called the organizer and asked who did them. She told that she did and that she used the Cricut. I was very impressed as I had never heard of it. I really enjoyed reading this and learning more about the Cricut.
