Why I Love Old Art (Part Two)

Updated on March 3, 2013

ILLUMINATIONS AND ORNAMENT

Another type of old art that I love is any type of ornamentation. It could be on a cieling, or in an old manuscript, or even carved into an original piece of jewelry. What I am showing on this lens is a series of illustrations from a French set of volumes that I own, titled: L'Ornement Polychrome Cent Planches En Couleurs Or Et Argent Contenant Environ 2,000 Motifs De Tous Les Styles Art Ancien Et Asiatique Moyen Age Renaissance, XVII Et XVIII Siecles. Don't let that scare you.....I call it: The Big French Book of Ornament. These are beautiful volumes to look through - the printing process is amazing since they used metalic inks in addition to very vivid and intense colors. I hope you enjoy looking at some of them.

These images are available online on a cd in jpg form Here.

The Original volumes are available also Here.

Greetings again! Being artists we both have the same taste in art...not that all artists appreciate this, I certainly do and have the same enjoyment as you.
