1968 Shelby GT 350 Convertible

Updated on July 20, 2014

Classic Car Show or Bust!

In 1968 the convertible option was added to the Shelby Mustang Cobra GT 350. It was available in 302 or 428. They came standard with a aluminum single four-barrel intake manifold and Holley 600 CFM carburetor. This pretty lady can give you a whooping 250 horsepower. WHOA, NELLY!

My son and I went to a car show the other night. This 1968 Shelby GT 350 Convertible was a beauty!

Behold the Lady Shelby! - 1968 Shelby GT 350 Convertible

We went to the car show that was part of the "Best Friends Festival" that is held yearly in Norton, Virginia. Every year the car show gets bigger. It's not as big as you would see if you went to a show in Florida, Cali or Atlanta. For an area of this population, it's actually a darn full show.

The Meat - 1968 Shelby GT 350 Convertible

There is nothing like the feel of a big engine that is greased up and has been properly pampered. When I say pampered, I am so not referring to driving slow.

Now, I took plenty of pictures, over two hundred of the cars and another four hundred of "Kids Day." I took so many that I am going to blog about the vehicles in separate posts over a period of time. So, if you looovvvveee cars you'll want to check back over the next couple of weeks. I will try to get one done every couple of days. I will warn you, I concentrated on the classics. I didn't take a lot of photos of the tuner cars.

I was torn between two ladies. I am having a hard time deciding which one was my favorite. I would guess my favorite will be far different than yours. My favorite lady was the 1968 Shelby convertible. I decided on this one because I kept going back to take more pictures. I couldn't stop. I mean, I think that if someone would have said, "You can take this home if you give up your right arm," I would have agreed. I would have thought about it for all of two seconds and decided it was doable. After all, it is an automatic.

I grew up in a family of mechanics. After my brothers moved out I kept the hot-rod posters on the walls. I owned a 1966 Ford Mustang with Pony interior.

I juat love old cars - get Hemming's, thanks to husband. This was really a nice look at a very popular classic car. My first car was a fastback Mustang - great car!
