Worrying about fuel can be a hassle when you're flying

When you're getting ready to go out and fly your airplane or helicopter, the last thing that you want to have to do is worry about fueling it up. This should really be a small step in your preparation process, however, sometimes it can overtake everything that you're doing when the fuel company runs late or you actually have to fly your aircraft to another airport to get the fuel that you need. Talk about throwing a wrench in the works, right? Well, to ensure that you always have the fuel that you need when it's time for a trip, get an aviation gas trailer. And, there are actually many reasons why one would be a solid investment.

Time Saver

The first reason why an aviation gas trailer would be a solid investment is that it's a time saver. By having one, you don't have to rely on someone else for fuel such as a fueling company who brings it to you when it's time to go flying. More often than not, these fuel companies run late and that means, you have to wait. So, if you have one, you can simply fuel your aircraft up and get in the air on your time schedule not someone else's.

Money Saver

Another reason why aviation fuel trailers would make a good purchase is because they can also help you save money. Most aviators know that aviation gas (AVGAS) or kerosene grade (JET A) fuels regularly fluctuate in price, sometimes as much as two to three dollars from day to day, even hour to hour. Not to mention how some airfield fuel suppliers charge extra simply because they know they're the only fueling option around.

To ensure that you get fuel is at the best possible price, you can avoid their price gouging and get the fuel cheaper somewhere else using an aviation gas trailer. All you have to do is tow the gas trailer itself to an outside fuel supplier, like a gas station or another fuel company, bring it with you to your aircraft, and fuel it up. Yes, it's that easy.

Durable radial tires and air-brushed wheels are just some of the quality components used in the build of each fuel tank trailer from Gas Trailer, which allows to hold up well in a variety of settings.

Versatility

What really makes an aviation gas trailer a piece of equipment that is a solid buy is how it offers you fueling flexibility. What does that mean exactly? It means that you can use it in any scenario where you might need fuel whether it's on a regular basis or once in a while. For example, if boating is another thing that you like to do, you could take a fuel trailer with you when you hit the water so you don't have to rely on the marina for gas. Or if you enjoy racing, then you could bring this piece of equipment with you when you're at the racetrack to avoid having to rely on the fuel that would normally be available to you.

In addition to these two fueling scenarios and using one in an aviation setting, some of the other places where one would be useful include:

  • When you're camping or hunting.
  • At a construction worksite.
  • When you're traveling cross-country.
  • At a fleet vehicle business.
  • When you're ice fishing.
  • To store fuel at your home or farm.

The Design

The time and money you can save when using a gas trailer along with how it offers you fueling flexibility is the result of one thing, which is its design. Typically, one will come equipped with a sturdy fuel tank, which is where the fuel is stored obviously, that's matched with a trailer set-up that has quality radial wheels, lights, and other accessories to match.

In addition, it will also have gas fueling equipment that will normally include a manual or electric fuel pump, a gas nozzle, a gas hoses with a reel, a grounding cable, fuel meter, and other equipment essential to pumping gas.

The choices from Gas Trailer

At Gas Trailer, two models are available that are specifically designed to be used in an aviation setting. They are the Pro 110 Industrial and the Pro 110 Industrial FTS. Each comes equipped with a GPI 25 gpm 12v Aviation Rated Pump and is set-up particularly to be used with aviation gasoline (AVGAS 100LL) or kerosene grade (Jet A). Each would work well refueling aircraft. However, if you want to use either outside of an airfield, no problem, since they both work with regular gas, ethanol blends, diesel, and kerosene.

There is one difference between the two models and that's how the Pro 110 Industrial FTS features a fuel transfer system. This makes the unit stand out since it can siphon fuel from external sources up to 15 feet away and transfer it to another source up to 65 feet away thanks to its 50 foot hose.

Again, either would well in any aviation setting along with other scenarios where fuel may be needed.

Tips to buy the right gas trailer for you

Before you pull the trigger and get an aviation gas trailer or any of the other options on the market, here are some tips to follow so you can get the ideal one for you.

  • Don't make a quick, hasty decision about the one you purchase. Basically, don't just buy the first one that you see. Check out the different choices.
  • Research what you're buying. When you buy anything, it's important so do some research on gas trailers and see what they're all about. If you're informed, you'll feel more confident about your decision.
  • Don't be afraid to ask questions. If you're not sure about something with the fuel tank trailer you're looking at, ask questions so you feel comfortable.
  • Compare what you're buying. This ties into the first tip since you should compare the different gas trailers that are available to you, see what you like and don't like about them. By comparing, you'll get a better understanding of what you ultimately need.

Make the investment to save

At the end of the day, an aviation gas trailer is a piece of equipment that will help you save time and money when fueling your aircraft. Plus, it's a good option for using in other situations where fuel is needed and that's why, getting one is more like making an investment rather than just a purchase.
