In hard economic times, people do extreme things. A car is vital and when things go wrong, it is expensive. It you are poor, the hit to the budget is intense but because a car is vital, you sacrifice other things for the repair.

As you know, almost any sort of body work runs thousands, even to repair a small dent at the wrong location. If a more major repair occurs, you either have it done, go to the junk yard to find a replacement and do it yourself, or if you are unable to find a part, you rig something up to fix it and keep going.

The series of photos are extreme car makeovers. Some were found outside of Walmart, others just random, but while they produce a "awe and shock" along with a chuckle, just remember they represent what people do at the bottom of the economic stratus.

Not the intent, but I think it shows amazing creativity to keep the cars going.

My vote goes to that varnished door on the minibus, it has a classy look to it.
