Fixing Car Problems

Updated on December 1, 2012

When we get our license to drive we all get happy because now we can drive where we decide to drive and in a way we are free to go where we want. Then when it comes to getting our first car, we get more excited because we feel a sense of ownership when we sign our name on that contract when we get the car that we really like. However, when we get a car they are not made perfectly to where they are meant to last forever and we have to fix them up or somehow maintain them so they could run smoothly.

A few weeks ago, my engine light came on while I was driving, so after getting it checked they said that it was the EGR Valve. I am not the best person when it comes to cars and especially when it comes to the parts that are put in the car to make it work. After asking my dad what exactly an EGR Valve was, he managed to find the part and put it in himself because the mechanic was asking for a large sum of money to fix something someone could of done.

The check engine light turned off after the part was replaced, however, now the car is having a hard time starting, and it resets the MPG every time I start it. So now we have to find out why that is happening and like in most times one can only hope that it won't be something that will cost us a lot of money.

It looks like when it comes to cars, if it isn't one thing, it's another thing. You think you have fixed the whole problem when you have managed to take care of only one problem. Automobiles can bring stress in our life sometimes because so many things can happen to them and we do no always know what that problem may be. That is why it is always important to maintain your vehicle. The more you maintain your vehicle, the better it will run and the longer it will last.

I had a car that I loved for many years. Recently, I had to give it up. I'd get it fixed, but it wouldn't stay fixed. Now I have a different car that I love, and a debt that I hate. I'm trying to pay it off quickly so I can just have a car that I love!

There is a show on NPR called Car Talk. The guys who host it are both funny and helpful. Here is a link to their site if you want to seek their advice: http://www.cartalk.com/

      Good luck!
