Images of Old Trucks

Once a year in early October and perhaps starting in late September the Crusin’ the Coast event brings a large number of antique and classic cars and trucks to the Mississippi Gulf Coast. This is a fun even. You can find a place and watch these relics roll by, or you can find where a large rally is occurring and walk right up to them.

We visit the event on one day, although it is just over a week long. And impacts two weekends. While it is a stirring sight to watch these beauties there are also, if you choose your spot well, photo opportunities. Getting photos is our main goal, and we have succeeded on several occasions.

For photos I recommend avoiding getting people’s faces and getting license plates in them of you plan to share them on the internet.

A Surprise

We posted several of our images on Pinterest, and thought the images of the old cars would bring in visitors. I soon realized the few old truck images are being repined regularly, but the cars attract less attention. I had no idea there was such a fascination with old trucks, or should I say that the fascination with old trucks is much greater than the fascination with old cars.

The Images We Use

The Introduction image, and the image that accompanies this segment of this article, are very popular. And, we have used them on Zazzle products, but they rarely sell. I am certain that they are easily found on the internet now that so many other Pinterest sites have added them. And, after noticing the popularity of these images I thought that they might make an anchor for an interesting hub.

Models made to scale of antique trucks are also available.

Are Other Types of Old Trucks as Popular?

I have images of pickup trucks, and I realize panel trucks could be equally interesting. I will try to show a variety here, and would appreciate feedback on which old trucks are favored by the most people. Because of the venue, not too many larger trucks, and certainly no eighteen wheelers pass by to be photographed. But, there may be interest in any kind of old truck image, so just because we do not have a certain kind of truck image does not mean we cannot view something from Amazon, or elsewhere.

Specialty Trucks

Fire trucks are always popular, and I suppose an image of a fire truck could do well on Pinterest. Another type that I suspect would do well is an old paddy wagon. Retired emergency vehicles always generate interest, especially if they are fully equipped. A fire truck loses some of its appeal with no hoses or ladders. And a paddy wagon loses much of its appeal without the red light. Old paddy wagons usually had a single red light shaped like a bubble gum machine right on top of the vehicle.

Another specialty truck is the old tow truck, with its cable and hook. These preceded the current skid trucks, and were much simpler in design than any current tow trucks.

There is always an admiring audience for old military trucks, but the paint must be authentic or it loses too much.

Well, I am certain many of you have your favorite type of old truck. And, once I know what else people appreciate I can edit this hub with an addition. I hope you like the selection that I have made. And do feel free to repin our images that are on one of our Pinterest boards.

Compared to old cars, trucks are fewer in number, but more interesting.

This is an interesting article about old trucks and the attraction people have with them. I have to admit that I am attracted to old fire trucks. I don't know why, but I think they are fascinating.

This show is on the streets, and the vehicles move. There are places where they gather, and once I got to walk two blocks of closed off street with the old cars angle parked on both sides. You have to get there at the right time for this. This year I just got to see the cars ride by.

I love seeing old trucks restored. If I can go to a truck or car show, I am there taking pictures if possible. The only thing is that sometimes the vehicles are parked so close together, it makes it hard to get good clear shots of each vehicle. Or, if the show is indoors, the lighting isn't good. Anyway, I enjoy looking.

That would be interesting as well. I visit the Crusin the Coast event in Biloxi, Mississippi in most years, and there are a lot of cars, ample trucks, but few school buses. The show is nice in that you can sit and the vehicles will pass you. It lasts a week plus in the fall. I believe it spans 8 days. If you like this sort of thing it is a fun event. I watch their website for the exact dates when it gets close.

What about old school buses? I know someone who is interested in Seddon buses, from the early 60's (before merger with Atkinson). Very nice hub!
