Interview with Karma

Updated on April 3, 2012

I have a confession to make. I told sweetsusie I had already interviewed Karma. That was untrue. How could I interview a concept? Here's what invoked my misleading statement.

Susie wrote a hub article about trolls and in the Comments section referred to Karma "biting someone ...." Then Sunshine commented: "I love Karma, its never let me down ..." Then I made a comment: "I interviewed Karma and she (yes, she's a she) promised ... "

Okay, that was not just misleading ... it was a lie. I apologize. I had not interviewed Karma at that point.. But now I have! So here is the genuine 'Interview with Karma.'

One artist's version of Karma
One artist's version of Karma

Interview with Karma

I promised sweetsusie,

A hubbuddy of mine,

That I would interview KARMA,

And write what I find.

I also told susie

without evasion,

Karma was of the

female persuasion.

Another artist ... another version
Another artist ... another version

I checked on the Internet

To get my first clue

How to find Karma

For this new interview.

I know for almost a fact

That some see Karma as fate.

But it’s also your actions

That may determine its weight.

So where can I find Karma

To make an interview date?

That's Mr. Ed on the right.
That's Mr. Ed on the right.
Banana Spider
Banana Spider

Karma’s a concept,

Deserving of admiration.

How do I find a way

To have a conversation?

Since I interviewed Mr. Ed.

And the Banana Spider,

Speaking with Karma's easy,

I simply have to find her . . .

Here is my first KARMA stop

From Google I got the facts.

Does this look like a car lot?

That’s what it is – it’s CARMAX.

I can understand the mistake.

CARMAX resembles KARMA..

This is like a comedy

Not a powerful drama.

Yummy caramel - even tastier when inserted within chocolate

Wrong Caramel - this was a Lebanese film (2007)
Wrong Caramel - this was a Lebanese film (2007)

Google has another choice

This one I do adore

I wind up seeking CARAMEL

In a lovely candy store.

One we know as fate,

The other is candy

Sweet as chocolate.

Def not a movie,

Though it was groovy.

Carmel, California
Carmel, California

Another visit to Google

Another fine inspiration.

It sent me to CARMEL,

A nice place to vacation.

CARMEL in California

Where wealthy people dwell,

A resort next to the ocean

And the weather’s always swell.

Georges Bizet opera, 'Carmen'
Georges Bizet opera, 'Carmen'

Google has one more chance

To do the right thing.

If it can’t find KARMA,

I may switch to Bing.

I think I’m getting close,

My heart is beating faster.

What? the opera, CARMEN?

My search is a disaster.

Metallic gray KARMA
Metallic gray KARMA

Back to Google once more

For added edification.

Now I’m on the right track

KARMA is transportation.

I never thought

I would find it.

By wrong choices

I was blinded.

But determination does pay

So I am delighted to say,

I am back on terra firma,

Here’s my Interview with KARMA.

To Google my gratitude;

This car has an attitude!

$8,500,000 Maybach Exelero
$8,500,000 Maybach Exelero

me – It has been difficult to find you, Karma, but well worth the trip. Do you have time for an interview?

Karma – Publicity is my middle name.

me – You have been named Luxury Car of the Year . When did that occur?

Karma – Vrooooom! Vrooooom! Just warming up the vocals. I received that award at the end of 2011 by Top Gear Magazine .

me – Have to admit I am not well acquainted with that magazine.

Karma –Don’t get out much? Top Gear just happens to be the world’s leading global automotive magazine as well as the popular television show based in Europe.

me – I have seen marketing materials calling you the Fisker Karma. Is Fisker your first name?

Karma – No, just plain Karma. Though you can see I am not plain in any way. Fisker Automotive is the name of the start-up company in Anaheim, California that manufactures me. That’s why this award from a company based in Europe is so significant. That’s where most of the world’s top luxury automotive brands are made. Like the Maybach Exelero.

me – I know the Exelero since I researched it in depth for “World’s Most Outrageously Expensive Car.”

Karma(smugly) The Exelero is a cool car but doesn’t suffer from hipatitus like me.

me – Hipatitus?

Karma – Yeah, terminal coolness.

Metallic red KARMA convertible
Metallic red KARMA convertible

me – Are you the first car produced by Fisker?

Karma – What else? I’m a four-door luxury sedan with 403 horsepower and the pizzazz of a sports car. Also, the world’s first true luxury electric vehicle with an extended range (called EVer™).

In addition to my bootylicious sculptural design, I am one of the most efficient, low-emission vehicles available today.

me – Say what?

Karma – Not only am I curvaceous but as a hybrid, I also combine the zero-emission efficiency of electric drive with the range and freedom of a gasoline-powered car. That’s due to my cutting-edge EVer™ series hybrid powertrain technology.

me – Are you expensive to own?

Karma – If you have to ask, then you can't afford me. I am available for only $105,000.

Fisker KARMA featured in Top Gear magazine
Fisker KARMA featured in Top Gear magazine

me – You seem to be very knowledgeable about your assets.

Karma – The editor of Top Gear said and I quote: “Cleverness abounds in the Fisker (that’s me), and adds to the air of intelligent luxury. It works well, looks good and must be a genuinely exciting thing to own.’

me – That’s some adulatory review.

Karma – Adulatory?

me – Excessive flattery.

Karma – Yup, it is babido!

me – Babido?

Karma – That means a way of saying something is really good. He also said, which I committed to memory, “… it’s top of the line but features no leather, just textiles and reclaimed wood. And it’s more convincing than it sounds, managing to look, feel and smell premium without any cow peel in it at all.”

Found 'The KAMA Sutra,' too, when searching for KARMA
Found 'The KAMA Sutra,' too, when searching for KARMA

me – That is an impressive review. Is Fisker going to build other models as well?

Karma – Henrik Fisker, the co-founder, CEO and executive design director of the company, confided to me that they plan to build a new mid-size electric sedan in Delaware. Henrik was the designer for the BMW Z8 and Aston Martin DB9.

me – I do appreciate your sharing all these details. Is there anything else you would like to add?

Karma(proudly ) I don’t want to brag but I also won Automobile Design of the Year and Global Green Design Award. Previous prestigious winners were the Mercedes-Benz CLS Coupe, Jaguar XJ and Rolls-Royce Phantom Coupe.

me – You are definitely in good company. Bye-bye, take care.

Karma – Vroooom! vroooom! Ta ta.

News Flash!!! The Fisker Karma, the world’s first true electric vehicle with extended range and the look of a sports car, has been named AUTOMOBILE Magazine’s 2012 Design of the Year.

Note to Susie: Do I have ESP or what! Remember when I commented that Karma was a female? Well, don't we call expensive sports cars, 'she,' -- just like ships?

Footnote: Many people see Karma as synonymous with fate ,,, Kismet ... destiny. For others, it is more than that. The word, Karma, from the Sanskrit word ‘karman,’ meaning "to act" has been defined as"the total effect of a person's actions and conduct during all phases of the person's existence, regarded as determining the person's destiny."

Those who believe in karma believe the effects of everything you do create past, present and future experiences, making YOU responsible for your own life.

Timidity will get you nowhere with Karma, Niteriter, but you already know that. She, whether Fate or female, treasures aggressiveness - no, make that assertiveness, a quality I do not believe you lack.

Thanks for the commendation, pardner, and as far as 'devious' SEO is concerned, ain't it all?

Give ole Merle my best regards, sometimes it's expedient to be on the run - that ole Karma has been known to bite folks on the butt. :)

It is with the greatest of timidity that I slide in here to commend you on yet another deviously SEO'd piece of scholarly literature.

I've spent much of my life hiding out from Karma, for reasons on which you may accurately speculate due to the impropriety of my history. On the one hand I am relieved to learn that Karma is just a car, but on the other I am chillingly disheartened to learn that it's female.

So I'll head on back to the bus station now, along with my Merle Haggard CD, "I'm on the run, the highway is my home."

If you liked this interview you must read some of those I did with 'undead' celebrities like Jimmy Dean, Genghis Khan, Cleopatra and Napoleon. They all had a lot to say, too.

You asked what would BMW say if interviewed. Probably refuse to admit that Karma existed.

Thanks, Alastar, for following my trip through Googleland searching for Karma. Yes, there was a car called Karmann Ghia that was marketed by Volkswagen from '55 through '74. I didn't include it because the name was so similar, it might confuse the reader.

Karma looks very nice, but she's a bit out of my price range! Thank you for another interesting interview and a fun and informative hub, drbj.

I want one of the red convertibles. It is just gorgeous. But instead I think I will just buy a house.

Funny, drbj. I almost think that it is my Karma to own a Karma! But, alas, I am too poor. Perhaps that is karma from another life?

However, I will settle for chocolate caramels!
