Living In An RV Full Time

Updated on July 13, 2015

Upgrades and Mods to my RV

Full Time In An RV

My plans are to live off the grid in my RV. I have already purchased a travel trailer. The travel trailer I purchase is a 2006 Aliner LXE for $6,000. It’s not the biggest and the best, but I like it because in roomy enough for one person and tows easy. On the few trips I have taken I learned that it only adds 2 dollars mpg for my Chevy Blazer to tow. Once I’m completely off the grid and settled in to the new lifestyle I can think about getting a larger RV.

I have already made some modifications to the Aliner for my off grid live. I have reupholstered the cushion, installed new curtains, added some area rugs, and increase my battery bank. See the list below of the items I have added to my Aliner.

  • Solar System
  • Microwave
  • Toaster oven
  • Coffee Maker
  • TV with Chromecast and a DVD

Finding an off grid property is my main focus at the moment. Once I find the right location I need to figure out what I will do with my house. I want to sell it, but renting it may be a better option. I’m still weighting the pros and cons.

In the mean time I plan to do some more off grid trips. Subscribe to following my off the grid journey below.
