Choosing a Face Mask
There are times where you may need to ride with a face mask underneath your motorcycle helmet. In some cases, you may need to protect your face from winds and cold weather, which is where a good face mask will come in handy.
When looking at different face masks, you want to plan for anything. Consider, material the riding mask is made out of, whether it is a full or half mask, any pattern or color you may prefer, size, and comfort.
- Typically, you wil find black and skull motorcycle face masks, but I have seen the camo (as seen below) and MIA/POW face masks.
- Most are considered one size fits all, as many face masks are made of stretchable material.
- Consider whether the face mask has shaped noses and holes
- Find a face mask that is comfortable to wear.
- Many neoprene face masks are a spongy material that tends to be water resistant, which will help in rainy and wet situations. They are considered the warmest motorcycle mask. These are spot clean and hand wash only.
- Leather face masks will shield you from the weather. These are spot clean only.
- Fleece face masks will keep you warm in cool weather. These are generally washable.
- Cotton and polyester masks will generally stretch better and wear better. They offer decent warmth, but are generally chosen because of comfort. These are typically washable and line dried.
