Super Car from the Middle East - Lykan Hypersport

Updated on August 22, 2013

Just when we thought we’ve been there and done that, or at least, seen that, there comes one more super car. Only this time it is from the Middle East. The Lykan Hypersport is a $3.4 million super car, the brainchild of Ralph Debbas, Chairman and CEO of W Motors.

Now, it is an observed fact that the Middle East likes to make the biggest, largest, tallest, broadest, creativitiest of anything. So, you have the tallest building in the World, the largest ocean construction in the World and so on and so forth. If history is anything to go by, then we may soon have the fastest super car coming from the Middle East, too. Although, not today but someday! So all you super cars watch out!

Lykan Hypersport Exterior

The car does look beautiful and has a lot of lateral design cues from the Lamborghinis and Audis of this world. It could become a serious contender for the sexy and beautiful looking car, competing head on with the Zenvo ST1. Take a look.

Lykan's Performance

The car’s performance figures put it bang in middle of the Super Car fold.

  • Top Speed: 242 mph (389.62 km/hr)
  • Acceleration: 0-60 in 2.8 sec
  • Torque: 1000 N-m
  • Engine: Mid-mounted flat-6 Iturbi engine (Courtesy: RUF automobile)
  • Price : $3.4 million (beats the Bugatti by a million!)

Lykan Hypersport - First Look

The figures are not tested but estimated ones, as the prototype has not been tested yet. Those may come out soon. Enthusiasts will have to wait a bit longer for the first look of the interiors. It was noted earlier in one of my articles that the McLaren F1 happens to be one of the few cars to have a gold coated engine. But the Lykan beats the McLaren by a huge margin. It boasts of light-emitting-diode encrusted with diamond, hood with gold plating and Mission Impossible kind of holographic display on the windshield. (No wonder it costs so much!)

While a lot can be written about the car and its performance, we will have to wait to see it in flesh. Whenever it is out, it may not have too many owners, as the early production run will be for seven such models only. Soon, the actual performance of the car and the performance of the new entrant in the super car space, will be out there for the world to judge. Till then Ciao!
