BMW i3 trying to lead the market of electric cars
In recent months the race for leadership in electric cars has been very interesting.
All started with the great presentation of the most recent and efficient Tesla, Tesla model 3, which struck everyone with their autonomy (215 m), doubling that of competitors, Nissan leaf and BMW i3, not to mention its price which is similar to the models previously mentioned.
It was not long until the automotive companies were put to work on new models in response to Tesla.
Ford took the baton to announce that they would produce a new independent electric model to the Focus electric, said model account with more autonomy, which is 200 miles compared to the Focus that has 100 miles of autonomy, intended for compretir with the Chevy bolt and the Tesla3.
From May 1, 2016 it was announced that it would be a renewal for i3 of the 2017 model.
The renovations include a new option of lithium battery, by the way developed by the Japanese company Samsung.
Samsung lithium battery also will be made available hybrid models of the german vehicle.
The new battery has 96 new individual items, including new materials and more levels of electrolytes.
The acceleration of the new car will be decreased since the new battery has an extra 50kg, coming from 0-62 mph in 7.2 seconds, 0.1 seconds more with respect to the previous model without mentioning that the maximum speed is maintained at 93 mph.
The owners of the current model can purchase the new version of the battery and enjoy its improvements already that is adapted in size and dimensions in general to have compatibility.
Providing fully charged power 33kWh, has an extra extra 11kWh to the present, and takes approximately 10 hrs to reach its maximum load.
New i3 model will have a price of £ 27.830 this represents an increase of £ 1,350 regarding the model current BMW.
There is no doubt that this battle by the uptake in the market and to be the best just begins, probably in a matter of years most of us will have access to a decent electric model to the pocket of each.
