Top 200 Current Motorcycles: Best Or Worst?

Updated on May 31, 2009

Love 'em or hate 'em, here are the Top 200 Current Motorcycles. A photo and analysis primarily on aesthetic terms is included with each of the 200 bikes. If you haven't read my earlier Hubs such as Top 100 Ugliest Motorcycles In History, then you're better off just reading these Hubs and accepting my viewpoint and not asking the question "Who the @#$% is Hal Licino and why is he qualified to critique these motorcycles?"

The bottom line is that I'm Hal Licino, and I'm basing these critiques on over three decades of experience riding, racing, and publishing several national monthly motorcycle magazines.

Don't like my opinions? You have two choices: Complain in the Comments Section, or go away and don't read them.

Now that we have that out of the way...

There are a few models in this listing that could have fit into a middle range category. Rather white bread bikes, they were really neither fish nor fowl and you couldn't hate them, but for that matter you couldn't like them either. I've made a few judgment calls on which side of the fence these motorcycles ended up and thus a handful that really weren't all that bad made it into WORST and some that weren't all that great made it into the BEST categories.

There are some models that were either 2007 or 2008 carryovers, or indeed indistinguishable from their predecessors with the exception of a stripe or a paint color. The manufacturers are getting lazy, right at the time when innovation in the motorcycling engineering world is required the most. That is why I have chosen to write this Hub as the Top 200 Current Motorcycles rather than the Top 200 2009 Motorcycles.

Also note that each of these motorcycles is street legal in most jurisdictions. I've tried to keep away from purely off road models as they adhere to their own particular and very specific styling standards.

Now, here are the links to the full listing of the Best Or Worst Top 200 Current Motorcycles as of Spring 2009:

What was the reason for choosing each of those bikes, just one's you like or they were good for a particular reason, or did you just choose for looks ?

Well, true to a certain point. There will always be some fruitcakes out there willing to fork out cold hard cash for a killer looking bike nevermind the fact that it produces only 5hp. If Honda had designed the Super Blackbird to look like a cross between a HD Fat Boy & a CR motocrosser, would it still sell as well as it did even though it was the fastest production motorcycle? How many times have we been tempted to step inside a showroom just because we saw thing this 2-wheeled beauty on display?

Your comments all seem to relate to appearance, rather than usefullness, avery one sided view, after all unless you are "hollywood" good looking, in spite of your appearance someone or something is attracted to you for other attributes than how you look. If you commented on how a bike performed it's supposed purppose, ( a rider review ) your comments would have more value.
