When Traveling On The Road Over The Upcoming Holidays

Things to Remember When Traveling On The Roads and Highways Over The Holidays

I would be willling to bet, that regardless of how much gas prices will inflate over the remaining summer and into fall, that people will be hitting the roads in their vehicles.

Here are just a few tips to remember when you are traveling on the roads and highways across our great country.

* Preplan your drive from starting point to ending destination. Know exactly how much time it will take for you to drive to your destination. If at all possible map it out, using a GPS ,or the internet to find the most effecient route to travel.

*Never rush, and do not speed excessively on the highways, there will be plenty of law enforcement out in force during the peak holiday traveling times.

*Take emergency items with you, such as water, blankets, flashlights, flares, non perishable food items, batteries, etc.

*If at all possible do not leave your vehicle on the highway, if you experience mechanical troubles, and do not take a nap on the emergency side of the highway, very bad place to be, just in case an out of control vehicle or eighteen wheeler, takes the least path of resistance.

*Verify that you have your cell phone or a weather radio with you.

*If you do not have any roadside assistance on your vechicle, get it before you start traveling out of town over the holidays.

*Make sure your vehicle is highway worthy, have it inspected before you start your travels.

*Last but not least drive safely, and watch out for the other drivers, and be courteous.
