Yamaha FJR 1300

Yamaha FJR 1300 Introduction

The FJR 1300 made it's first appearance on the European market in 2001, although it wasn't available on the American market until 2002.  The FJR 1300 has targeted a segment of the motorcycle market that still want to go fast but enjoy being more comfortable than on an all out sport bike.

Acclaimed as the worlds first super sport touring motorcycle the Yamaha FJR 1300 A has undergone many refinements throughout it's history. In 2003 the FJR 1300 carried the prestigious title of being named Motorcyclist Magazines Motorcycle of the Year.

Yamaha has preformed an excellent job of filling the gap between all out sport bikes and large touring machines. Refinements in this bike over the years have answered riders requests to deliver one of the finest sport touring bikes on the market today.

Removable side bags make this a great weekend getaway machine, and the FJR 1300 AE model offers an electric shift transmission free of hassles with clutch operation.

The AE version of the Yamaha FJR 1300 is equipped with a computer controlled clutch. The gearbox is still a manual 5 speed constant mesh box like the gearbox on the FJR 1300 A . It doesn't shift automatically, but all clutch functions are controlled by the computer. Shifting between gears can be done by using the traditional foot shifter or by the paddle switches located on the left handlebar. While stopped and in gear the computer disengages the clutch as the throttle is opened, the computer senses the position and smoothly modulates the engagement of the clutch.
