No, not the end for Toyota. Every manufacturer has and will continue to have problems. The stupid bureaucrats keep mandating more esoteric technology. The stupid public keeps clamoring for the "latest and greatest" "kewl" technology. The new-found reliance on electronics is setting us up for bigger and better disasters to come. And the public is going to become saddled with unrepairable junk heaps. No more corner garage mechanics. Only the (expensive) dealers will be able to work on them.
The Toyota acceleration problem was due to electronics that replaced mechanical linkages that WORK. The Prius brake problem is also due to electronics which also replaced mechanical linkages (to hydraulics).
Who NEEDS this crap? So-called modern humans are no more advanced than primitives dazzled by bits of colored glass.
