The best used car to get is one that, most importantly, you really like/love. You're spending hard earned money for it, make sure you're happy with it. Drive it and make sure it has a clean CarFax. After that, if it makes you more comfortable, have a mechanic inspect it. Also, consider maintenance cost down the road. How much is an oil change for one? How much is a break job? How much is a tune up?
Some people have brands they are loyal too. Some people only buy Honda or Toyota because of the reliability but recent events show us that every car manufacture will have a problem sooner or later. Buick and Jaguar recently were ranked higher than Lexus in a quality survey by JD Power. Clearly, things are changing.
For me, if I was to buy another used car and money was not too much of a concern I'd look for a nice low mileage 2007-2008 Jaguar XK8 convertible in Black with Tan Leather or Silver with Black Leather
