When did cars START to become prevalent in American Society?
Ever since interchangeable parts came about with the industrial evolution it became a lot easier to mass produce something and to then fix it. Ford was known for inventing the assembly line. This made it easier to manufacture cars. This also allowed mechanics to work on all cars, they would just need to order the parts. People in America need cars to get almost anywhere, unless you live in a bigger city.
