Honda Civic Type R
New Civic Type R
The new Honda Civic Type R has landed and oh what a beast it is, from its sleek design to the power house under the hood it ticks all the boxes, we love you Honda. With the 306 hp 2.0-litre turbo six speed gearbox putting out an amazing 295 lb-ft of pure torque this my readers is not for the faint hearted. I had type R`s before i thought they were very fast but i was wrong. This car not only talks the talk but looks the part with its lovely sleek curves and beautiful front its nice rear and triple yes you read right Triple centre exhausts whats not to love.
The Type R`s new design has everything Vtec + Turbo oh yes. Peak torque for this beast is 2500rpm while it reaches its full horsepower at a staggering 6500rpm and redlines at 7000rpm. I know we all love the roar out of Vtec but this hasn`t the same old revving scream that we all know love as the 6 speed gearbox has automatic rev-matching, has a lighter flywheel and shorter drive ratio. Honda keeps getting better with its design and have fitted an aluminium hood to the new Type R, updated the chassis with more bracing and also updated the suspension. The new Type R has 3 different driving mode, comfort , sport and +R. In each different mode you will have a different driving experience as they alter the steering, throttle response, rev-matching and stability control. Now to stop this beast you Brembos all round with 13.8 inch drill and grooved disks up front and 12inch at the rear. Then we have the wheels which are 20 inch black rims with a 10 spoke centre and red outer ring, in one word NICE.
But enough about all that performance and looks how is the comfort. The interior is as it should be in Type Rs and that's red. There's red trim for the seats, steering wheel, dash and gauge cluster. Carbon Fiber trim finishes off the dash and then to top it all off that that special Type R emblem on the centre console. Oh yes my Type R friends this car speaks for itself. Honda have said the price tag for this beast will be in and around the €40,000 mark which in my opinion is worth every penny.
Thank god Honda didn't go on with the 8th generation(2005-2011) model shape because lets be honest it looked horrible. I mean who wants a headlight that goes all the way across the front of your car it looked like it had the human equivalent of a unibrow. Good call Honda now can you please fire the designer that designed that thing.
