Real Carbon Fiber Helmets

Protect Yourself

Carbon Fiber Motorcycle Helmets are the strongest made helmets you can get. Technological updates that are constantly occurring are taking this material and making it better and better each time. Carbon fiber Motorcycle Helmets may cost more than their plastic or fiberglass counterparts, but they're worth the extra money. It's your head, your brain, so you make the choice which material you want wrapped around your head. However, the material used in helmet making is only as good as the the rest of the construction of the helmet. You can have a great material, but the manufacturer will wrap that material around the foam required for a DOT rating, and when all this comes together is when the helmet is complete and ready for the road.

Giro Remedy S Carbon 2009 Snow Helmet

When you find yourself in a situation where you need a little extra something on the mountain, turn to the Giro Remedy S snow helmet. Offering enhanced coverage and an amazing fit, the Remedy S will keep you focused on your line during your descent to the pickup point. The helmet is made of a carbon/fiberglass composite, which is not only extremely tough but also helps you shave off some weight to create an extra edge. The helmet's EPS liner, meanwhile, offers a remarkably consistent performance across a wide range of conditions. Gram for gram, the EPS liner absorbs more impact energy than any other liner material, plus it's incredibly light. No other material brings all these benefits together. Finally, the Remedy S offers nine Super Cool events to help keep you comfortable. Super Cool events pull cool, fresh air into the helmet while pushing heat and stale air out. By maximizing efficiency and optimizing vent shapes, the collective cooling power of Super Cool vents helps to regulate your core temperature and keep you feeling fresh all day long.

I have a Suomy racing helmet and I like it a lot...It fits great and I feel very safe with it on. If it wasn't for a Marushan (which is no longer manufactured) or an Icon helmet I wouldn't be here making this post today. Both protected me extremely well and both were in the $200-$300 range. If you don't have a full cage helmet you might as well wear no helmet at all. 1/2 helmets will only give you a false sense of security and I'd be braindead if that was all I had on during my incidents.

@JBMotorcycle: Hi. I'm the VP of sales for LS2 Helmets. The shelf life is not any longer with a carbon fiber helmet. The main challenge with age is with the inner EPS liner and the foam in the comfort liner. Pollution, ozone, gas vapors, heat, all work to weaken these materials. 5 years is a ball park number, but a pretty safe rule of thumb.

      Hope that helps.

I'd love to get myself a carbon fiber helmet, they're still pretty expensive though. It's recommended that you get a new helmet every five years, I wonder if carbon fiber would have a longer "shelf life" - nice list!

Good site. No offense intended. Simply a comment on open-face helments. I just came from a "minor" motorcycle accident and my full-faced saved my jaw. It also kept me out of the hospital. Why anyone would wear open face is beyond me. The protection is so necessary. (My two cents.) Thanks.
