10 STRANGE ITEMS Sold on Ebay

Updated on March 4, 2013

Junk or Treasure? Or just WEIRD

Ebay is undoubtedly the most well known site for e-commerce and online auctions out there. Everyday, you hear stories about individuals who claim to have made it BIG simply by selling their items on Ebay. Ebay has given countless numbers of entrepreneurs an online avenue to go for the gold and strike it rich. Want to know more about striking it rich on Ebay? There are may different approaches to making money on Ebay and according to most successful Ebay business owners, there if no rhyme or reason to what sells and for how much it sells for.

The good news for us is that there is a breed of online venture capitalists who have created their own niche for selling on Ebay. The even better news is that you truly can buy or sell ANYTHING on Ebay as I quickly learned when researching for this article. All you need is a product and a dream.

Here my friends are 10 STRANGE Items for sale on Ebay RIGHT now! Bid FAST Because these are HOT items!

1. Spells - yes, that is can buy a spell on Ebay! The price varies based on what the spell is for, if it has an attached item (doll, stone, etc), as well as what type of paper it is printed on....does that make a difference? The spells range from Love Spells, Binding Spells, Friendship Spells, and Even MONEY Spells and have a going rate of $1.99 and UP.

2. Dirty Socks - Ewwwww. The going rate seems to start around $24.99 for some very dirty used Athletic Socks. Really? Looks like a new business a may want to know more about..or less?!?!

3. Ghost Poop - Yes my friends, for around $5 you can be the proud owner of a celebrity ghost's poop. This treasure comes to you sealed in a plastic baggie and available celebrities range from Abe Lincoln to Elvis.

4. Psychic Readings - These range from one question, to chat sessions, phone calls etc. and the price truly does vary on the service. Dionne Warwick had better get with the times...I didn't see her ad!

5.Fairy dust - Sparkly, "enchanted" fairy dust can be yours for about $5! HURRY because it is on sale for 15% off!!! It has been bessed and can be used in spells and to summon fairies.

6. Fart in a jar - Gross! This seller is offering a legitimate Irish toot. Seller claims that it was collected 10 seconds after production. The bidding starts at $1.49

7. Fossilized Dino Poop - Seller is offering proposed dinosaur fossilized poop from Madagascar. Good news is that the seller assures buyers that he will whatever it takes to gain the5 star rating if you are unsatisfied with your purchase.

8.Haunted pictures - More than I could imagine. For just a small amount of money, you can be the proud owner of a haunted picture or a picture from a haunted home. Prices Vary.

9.Virtual Hug - You set the time and this seller will give you a virtual hug from wherever she is in the world. Going rate $.25. As much as I want to make fun of this one....there is enough hatred in the world. I will let this positive seller have this one!

10. Bent paper clip - The ad says not to buy it but I bet you someone will. This is just as it says...A bent paper clip. Really?

Going through closed auctions, I found things like:

  • toenails
  • People's souls!
  • body parts
  • pictures of feet
  • dates with geeks
  • drug free urine
  • etc!

These were just 10 of the STRANGE items that I found. I scrapped the idea for the 10 most disgusting items because that was too much for me! These items prove that it doesn't always take a business degree to be successful...It only takes some ingenuity and a dream.

Happy Ebaying and please share any oddities you sell or see for sale one bay! Have an idea for a joint venture.....?

Amy,If you found someone that ndeeed it to complete a bed you might get as much as fifty dollars. No dealer that I am aware of would bother putting it in stock owing to the extremely limited market. You should go to Google Images and search “Simmons bed spring”. One or more might turn up and might have some dollar information connected. The spring is probably 60-80 years old and made so well that it is still useful. You can put a zippered cover over it for cleanliness and use it as a box spring.Good Luck,Marshall

And yet I couldn't sell my dresses on eBay? Perhaps if I said they were farted on by Elvis' ghost?

I have actually had prices go above the "Buy it now price" that I set. They get so into the race to win that they don't realize they could have bought it cheaper! Oh and demand I guess...they want a little competition with their item!

Yep..this stuff sells! I say try it! Hawaiian Odysseus and I are in a competition to sell things found on a walk by the winner declared yet but fingers crossed...your dirt's historical value may take it!

I haven't been on eBay lately, but it always amazed me how people would get so caught up in bidding that they'd pay more for something than they'd have paid if they'd have hopped in their car and gone to a store.

Thank you for checking it out bac2basics! I was a bit boggled by the fact that there were bids on these items and that they had sold previously BUT I realized that at one point in time, I purchased a pet rock. A ROCK!?!? M parents had to have been shocked as well. Maybe one of these"weird" items is the next craze...I hope not.

Hello Relationshipc! Thanks for reading! I have been selling on Ebay for some time and never knew of these types of items until now. I totally thought that there was some type of moderator who would kick out the nonsense items but I got to thinking...its basic business- supply and demand. millions have been made off of nonsense items and they all had to start somewhere! If you find anything cool, please let me know!

Heather May 4 years ago from Ohio will laugh but i almost bough something just to see what happened! If you do find the lettuce....those types of items are also selling! Here is what I wonder...I wonder what the moment and environment looked like when the light bulb went off for these e-commerce superstars...That would truly be scary! Thanks for reading!

Hi Mommy. This is really weird, but I guess there are a lot of people out there who would be sucked in by the spiel, the mind boggles. I am not registered with ebay but do show their products on my hubs ,I can honestly say I have never seen anything as weird and wonderful as the products you showed here. Very interesting hub .

      Hi, Heather!

Oh, my, what ingenuity! eBay's come a long way since the young Iranian man from France, now residing in my state of origin, founded a venue where he could sell his Pez dispensers. All power to these people, but that's never going to be my gig. I have my propensity for being a fool at times, but I really have to wonder about the psychological makeup of the people who BUY these sordid things. It would also be interesting, Heather, to see how many buyers renege on such deals.

What does fascinate me and nag at my latent OCD tendencies are things in our food that look religious? Ha-ha! So you can just picture me at the kitchen table playing with my food, looking for a piece of lettuce that I can describe as a striking silhouette of the outgoing pope.

Once again, you've demonstrated your literary reach and research prowess, Heather! Thanks for the promo on the right margin, by the way! : ) I'm really blessed!

Oh my KarenHellier....they do have bids! Not everything but some things do! I say kudos to the gal with the virtual hugs but can't even say on Hubpages some of the other Strange items sold! If you are ever bored, you can actually type weird in on the Ebay search and check out past sales. That is what is truly scary! Thanks for reading!

Are people really buying this stuff? What is the world coming to if this question is to the affirmative. scary!

I have heard that all you need is a gimmick. I guess you don't even need that these days point2make. I am sure when the caveman invented the wheel people thought he was crazy...maybe these folks are on to something! Thanks for the vote!
