Earning online is appealing, after all you can choose your own work hours and work from home. In practice, it can be difficult to make enough money to make the time and effort worthwhile. There are a few ideas, however.

Need a little extra cash? Or just a few gifts or treats for yourself or others? Or maybe you already have a source of income but you want to supplement it? Below are my suggestions for the 5 best ways to make quick and easy money online. None of the websites require any technical knowledge and all them you can start earning money online within hours and days, rather than weeks and months.

All these online earning methods are completely legit, by the way. They are free to join too, so you might as well give them a try. I certainly did. They won’t make you into a millionaire, but they can potentially earn you hundreds of dollars over a period of time and it is quick and easy money. All you need is a computer and internet access and some time set aside to earn.

Disclosure: Some of the links below are affiliate links. That means that if you click on them and sign up or purchase the associated products, I receive a small commission. You suffer no absolutely no negatives from doing this, however, financial or otherwise - it just helps me a little. I appreciate all the support I receive from people who use my affiliate links.

#1 Bubblews

The Bubblews website is a relatively recent addition to earning options. The site basically revolves around writing and posting short pieces of 400 characters or more (known as "bubbles") and social networking with the other users of the site.

You can write on just about any topic. Some people write fairly serious news or factual articles, others write personal commentaries on things that are happening in their lives. There are some basic rules to follow, but overall they give you a lot of freedom and the 400 character minimum (yes, 400 characters, not words!) make it very easy to put something together quickly.

Bubblews give you a dollar just for joining and posting your first bubble. After that, you earn from interactions with the other users: comments, likes, connecting etc., as well as from posting more pieces of writing.

You need to get to $50, however, before you can redeem your earnings. This is not too difficult, if you are prepared to spend some hours on the site, however. Once your redemption request is accepted, the money can be paid to you a variety of ways, including into your PayPal account - the entire process from getting approved to receiving your money can take a week or more, though.

UPDATE December 2014: Bubblews have changed their system. They now just seems to be paying for "likes" and no longer pay for page views too. Consequently earnings have gone down drastically.

#2 Amazon Mechanical Turk aka MTurk

Amazon Mechanical Turk, or MTurk, as it is also known, is an online marketplace for work and there are thousands of jobs on there, usually quick tasks which pay relatively small amounts of money, but it builds up.

You can sign up to the their website and begin online earning straight away. Your online earnings are paid to you within hours or days and collect in your Amazon account. You then either transfer he money to your bank account or convert it to Amazon gift cards and spend it on products at the Amazon website.

It is one of the best ways to make quick and easy money online. Read some of my MTurk tips for more details on maximizing your income.

#3 Microworkers

Microworkers is a rival of MTurk and operates in a generally similar way. It is smaller however which means that there are less jobs. It can also be easier to navigate and find the jobs you want in some ways, however, as MTurk can seem overwhelming.

Another difference is that you get your online earnings paid into a PayPal account with Microworkers. Read my pros and cons of Microworkers for more info.

#4 Inbox Dollars

Inbox Dollars in a website-based rewards club where you earn money for completing surveys, watching videos, reading emails, shopping online etc. They give you $5 as a sign up bonus, which is nice. Plus you get another dollar just for downloading their their toolbar. Read my full review of Inbox Dollars and start to make some easy money online.

#5 Swagbucks

Swagbucks has some major similarities with Inbox Dollars. However, instead of being paid in dollars, you are paid in swagbucks, which is a virtual currency. You can then exchange your swagbucks for gifts in their online store, or do what I do and swap your swagbucks for Amazon gift cards or PayPal money.

Other Online Earning Websites

There are many sites that I’ve not included in this list. For instance, I’ve not included sites like HubPages, and Squidoo*, despite the fact that you can earn more with them than you can with some of the sites listed.

They are not included because firstly, it takes a basic amount of writing skill and internet knowledge to make money with it, and secondly, because any profits you make with it, however big they may be, will take weeks and months to materialize, rather than hours and days.

UPDATE: Squidoo has now merged with Hubpages and is no more.

Set up Your own Blog/Website and use Affiliate Advertising

Of course, you could decide to go it alone and set up your own blog/website. You can earn money by using affiliate advertising programs such as Google Adsense and Amazon Affiliates.

Setting up your own websites is not as difficult as it sounds, if you use and host your site with a company like HostGator.

Although setting up your own site(s) is potentially one of the most lucrative ways to make money using the internet, it couldn't be described as quick and easy, however.

I also use Inboxdollars and have been happy with their site. For anyone that may like Hubpages, there is also a site called Squidoo. The have modules that allow you to add Amazon and Ebay affiliate links. This would be a good way to drive traffic to your Hubs, too.

I used to use InboxDollars years ago. I thought it was a pretty good website. I just lost interest in it after it went through a period of having very little available other than 'sign up for this'. I just went to the modern one and holy cow! It is really different now! I may decide to join up again, not sure. I'm also on Swagbucks and I love it. I like the search and video features best. I print out coupons from there, which is useful. You're supposed to get Swagbucks from using these coupons but I haven't gotten any points from that yet. It's been about a month, so we'll see. I generally get the Amazon gift cards because they are cheaper than than paypal gift cards. A website I really like is Paidviewpoint. The surveys are super quick and easy. There's usually one survey to take per day. ?r=fwdszl If anyone joins up, I would appreciate if you could use my referral. I had to put a space after the slash and before the question mark.

Here are some sites I recommend. I try to be as optimistic as possible and form my own opinions by myself threw thorough research and experiencing things for myself. I try not to be to judgmental with new experiences. My opinion on these sites are based on my every day experience with these site. I have a little bit more time to spend on each site with me being on maternity leave.

Inbox dollars- Legit-They do pay but the downside is it takes along time to build up to the minimum $30 cash out. It took me about 6 months to get to it. Also it took around 3 weeks for me to receive my Visa gift card which they take out a processing fee before they load your money.

Amazon Mechanical Turk- Legit-I started about 2 weeks ago and I have made almost $5. I'm sure there is a way to make money faster if you have the time. There is no minimum cash out but you have to wait 10 days before you can transfer money to pay pal account.

Swagbucks-Legit I like this site because of the variety of tasks you can do to get swagbucks. You can then redeem your swagbucks for several different prices including gift cards. I think a $5 gift card is 500 swagbucks. I recommend taking surveys to build your bucks faster.

Bing Rewards- Legit-its a fun site. I like checking in everyday and completing my daily tasks. It takes awhile to get your points up but once you get to 525 rewards you can redeem for a $5 gift card.

Vindale Research- I cant say if they pay or not but I signed up a week ago and just do the surveys they send to my gmail. I am up to $13. The min balance to cash out is $50. If I made $13 in a couple hours in a week I cant see getting to $50 to be that time consuming.

Global Test Market- I am on the fence with them. The surveys are really long and time consuming. Sometimes you get almost to the end and it kicks you out, which is frustrating. You earn points that can be redeemed for gift cards ect.. and some surveys give you sweepstakes entries. I have only done the surveys they send to my email. On the 13th I was at 37 points and 240 sweeps yesterday I was at 97 points and 300 sweeps

YouGov- Fun social site to express your opinion on anything you want. I can spends hours on YouGov. I get maybe 1 survey a day or 2 sent to my email. You can redeem for gift cards. A $25 gift card is 30,000 points I have done less than 10 surveys since I signed up a week ago and have 4,000 points. I just really enjoy exploring this site.

i-poll- Typical survey site- $10 min cash out to paypal or gift cards.

Harrispollonline- Surveys are usually pretty simple and not to long. $5 gift card starts @ 625 points. Not hard to get to that goal Ive already accrued 465 points in 1 week.

RewardTv- Just a fun site to play games and test your memory of TV. You get points that can be turned into Sweepstakes entries or giveaways.

I-say- Still contemplating this one, Not sure if I like it or if its a waste of time. Ill give it another week and see what happens. Take surveys to get points $5 gift card is 500 points.

Tellwut- There is so much to do on this site. I really like it. If you don't feel like investing any time into a survey you might be kicked out of then you can take polls for points. $10 gift card is 4000 points. It takes awhile to get to that goal but really depends on how much time you have to invest in it. I noticed they bombard you will emails and its difficult to qualify for any.

Cashcrate- I hear all kinds of great things about Cashcrate but in my experience I have more of a negative attitude toward them. I have attempted to take every survey they email me and the ones on their site (around 60 surveys) and have only qualified for 2 and made it to the end to get the money. Their is other ways to make money on the site but something seems to always go wrong. $20 min cash out and I have only made it to $3.58.

Panda Research- Is a waste of time and space. They bombard you with survey opportunities via email yet its almost impossible to qualify for any of them and if you are lucky enough to get threw the surveys take a really long time. Most of the offers you have to put in a credit card and sign up for a bunch of spam mail. Not worth it and I do not recommend wasting your time on them.

Ive signed up for a couple more sites but haven't had a chance to see if they are legit or a waste of time yet. Hope this helps anyone trying to make a couple extra bucks here and there!

That's a great list! I review some of these sites on my blog: MTurkish Delight ( I would add Bing Rewards to the good list, all you do is sign up and every time you search for something using Bing, you accrue points which you can use to Amazon gift cards etc.

Can you really make money with Bubblews? Most of the time site is sleeping. Just to jump on page it takes me 10 time to refresh and get what i need. Next thing the quality of articles is not upto the mark. Doesn't seem this site will survive longer. I searched a lot of forums if it actually pays, most of them said its a scam. Has anyone received money from the site? Let me know :)
