55 Ways To Make Money Online

Updated on May 2, 2013

Making money online used to be more of a pipe dream, average people making money online was very few and far between but many things have changed over the past decade. The amount of online workers, who actually make money has slowly increased. At this point anyone willing to spend some time working at it can make money online. How much money all depends on the person and how dedicated you are to it. The following is a list of true ways you can make money online, there are no get rich schemes listed below. If your ready to begin making money online, give the list a look.

Some of these ways on making money online involve using Google's Adsense it would also benefit you to read out hub: How To Make Money On Adsense

1. Freelance Work

Be a freelancer - there are at least a handful of established sites where companies can list work they need done: content contributions, writing, website assistance and literally hundreds of other types of work.

2. Sell on Ebay

Having been a seller on Ebay for 9 years personally I can tell you it is not all smooth sailing on Ebay compared to what is once was. With the economy what it has been for the past few years selling things that are not necessities on Ebay does not bring in a huge amount of money. Also as Ebay has continued changing the rules over time I have seen high volume power sellers (selling $10,000 a month) be crippled so completely by Ebays practices that they have even lost their power seller status (selling less than $1000 a month).

That being said if you are not looking for something that will let you completely quit your day job and make you rich than Ebay can be good for you. Best practice is to research what products are selling and purchase a large bulk amount of something that sells, separate it into individual items and sell them individually on Ebay. Without much effort making a few hundred a month is fairly easy. If Ebay does rub you the wrong way feel free to try these other auction/selling sites listed below to sell your items.

If you would like to try Ebay alternatives try out this hub: 10 EBAY ALTERNATIVES

These sites don't charge you to list items only when it actually sells you pay a small percentage(and the percentage is smaller than what Ebay charges).

3. Sell Your Photos Online

There are quite a few sites where you can sell your photographs. Despite what you think on first thought people and companies do pay for photos that are good or are of something specific they need. It is cost effective compared to going out and taking the photos of things they need themselves. Per phot you don't get a lot but keep in mind if you take a lot of photos sheer volume can earn quite a bit of money also photos can sell over and over. If you want to sell your photos check out our hub: 10 PLACES TO SELL YOUR PHOTOS ONLINE

Check the video below for an example.

There are many sites that need workers to do simple data entry work and to double check over data that's been entered. Can be a boring job and doing so online will not pay as well as a normal 9 - 5 job but you get to do it in your home, and at your own pace.

If it is truly a great idea others may want to copy your idea and make similar sites so it is important to monopolize the niche as quickly and as well as you can. 16. Domain Name Reselling

If you have a knack for it this can be lucrative. Since the 2000s many domain names that make sense or otherwise have been purchased. But if you can think of a name, a .com that others may want or associated with something that could be worth money in the future you could purchase the name and sell it at a later date. You could also make a business of it finding the cheapest domain name registrar from which to buy good domain names mark the price up a bit and resell to people or businesses who may want the name.

17. Create & Sell I-phone Applications

Apple has grown massively throughout the 2000s and the I-phone is one of their biggest achievements. The Apple store sells thousands of applications that people can download to their phones, and those apps can be made by people like you. There are many editors available to create the apps and when you sell them through the Apple store you put them for sale to possibly millions of people. One very popular app could make someone a millionaire. But don't get ahead of yourself, learn to create a game or other small app and give it a try there is money to be made.

18. Buying/Selling Websites

Much in the same way you resell domain names this can be a money maker. Often times a website owner wants to sell their website. You could be a middleman that sets up a buyer for a fee or you could purchase sites you know have traffic to generate revenue and run your own ads on it to make money. Eventually if the site gets more attention and traffic you could resell the site at a higher price.

19. Trading Stocks/Forex Online

There are programs that you can access online or through applications on your computer that are real time investing applications. They allow you to buy and sell stocks or forex. 33. Create & Sell Software Applications

Even if you are not a programmer the ability to create a simple software application is getting much easier more advanced programmers over time have created editors that are more graphic based. Which means that you don't have to dredge through a huge pile of coding. Come up with a simple application and research editors online to find one that fits your skill level. Once you have perfected your application submit it to the any number of sites online that allow you to sell your software.

34. Make Money On Fiverr

Fiverr is an entertaining as well as money making site. Anyone can list things they are willing to do and what it will cost for them to do it. Some I found quite funn are: "I'll be your girlfriend on facebook for a week for $10," "Will write your name on a soccerball and spin it on my finger in a video for you for $5," "I will make a video of my hamster writing your message for $5." Either way if you are willing to do silly things for money this could be your site.

37. Provide Support For Open Source Software

There is an incredible number of software programs that are free. Some of those have thousands, even millions of users, but because they are free they usually have no support. If you use this freeware and are very knowledgeable about it you could hire out your support to others attempting to use it. If it is a widely used program this could become a full time job and very lucrative.

38. Hosting Space Reseller

If you purchase a large amount of server space from a web hosting company you can usually get a very good deal. From there you can resell small parcels of your space to people who need hosting space for their website but don't need a lot of space. The more space you purchase in bulk the more customers websites you can host and the more money you make.

Many large, medium or emerging business online and non-online need workers to do research for them. You could hire out your services directly. Or choose a website that lists companies that need this type of services.

There are at least a handful of larger sites through which you can sell your 3d models, textures and other things for those in need of 3D content to purchase. The good thing about these models is that once they are made and put up for purchase they can be purchased over and over.

Examples: Turbosquid

Get Paid To Write Articles

Some large sites need content in the form of articles. They pay in the way of ad revenue that run on the pages of your articles. The more articles you write the more traffic you get the more money you receive.

Transcribe Audio & Videos

Some online companies will pay you to transcribe their audio and video files for subtitles, hearing impaired and other uses.

Call Centre Jobs Online/At Home

With the rise of call centers throughout the 2000s work at home call center jobs have also risen. It is cost effective for these companies as it means they don't have to pay for office space, equipment, etc. Another pro to this type of job is unlike some other online jobs/work you will most likely get paid hourly and at least minimum wage for a certain set hours per day.

Amazon Mechanical Turk

Amazon Mechanical Turk is a site with a huge directory of jobs being offered by companies to users online. They have varying rates of pay, some jobs are simple things that take less than a minute to do but only pay a few cents. Other jobs can take all day (or longer) and have very high rates of pay. More advanced work available on the site often requires you to do modules that show the sites clients you have the skills needed before doing the more advanced and high paying jobs.

Get Paid To Solve Company Problems

Many large and mid sized companies have what they refer as a think tank. High paid idea men who solve problems for their companies, come with best practices for their companies, etc. But now there are sites where companies can post issues, problems, things that need solutions/resolutions and you can give them ideas solutions and get paid for it.

Examples: Ideaconnection, Innocentive

Create a website of directories with info people need or often search for. Once you begin to receive traffic place ads through Google Adsense on the pages of your site. You will receive ad revenue.

Become A Virtual Assistant

Hire out your assistance to webmasters offering maintenance to their websites or other online virtual assistant duties.

Flip Real Estate Online

Although I would recommend this only for people knowledgeable with real estate you can do online what you do in real life. On Ebay or other sites you can purchase real estate and sell for a marked up price. The key idea is to get a very good deal and then sell at a higher price.

Create & Sell Wordpress Themes

Wordpress is used all over the web for websites and people will pay for wordpress themes. If you have the talent to create some put them up for sale and make some money.

I've used most of them at one point or another, I haven't spent a lot of time on more than a couple because I don't have a lot of time. Mostly I have been concentrating on youtube, hubpages, making specialty sites with adsense ads, making music and selling it online, and ebay. All of which work pretty well :)

Yes I do sell art occasionally on Etsy. I like to write so let me see. Ebay has become crap. So many sellers have been turned off that being a consumer there is now difficult. Half the time, you are better off going to amazon or independent websites to shop. DOWN WITH EBAY! Go down in flames fleabay ;)

This hub is going to be in my face for a while; I can feel it!

I've written games like "Black Box" (you guess the location of blocks inside a box by sending in probes and noting where they come out), "Sonar" (you fire at an approaching submarine based on the echoes you get back from your directionally-aimed pings – blind people can play it), and "Mastermind," where either you or the computer guesses the arrangement of four colored pegs the other has secretly put down.

But I wrote those programs in Basic, the only language I know, and played them successfully on the Atari, back in the day. Do you think there are programmers who will buy Basic programs already written and debugged?

I hope it is a good list I used a lot of these myself, broke down each option into sub articles that list ways you can try related to each option so has really many times more ways than just 55 to make money. Your bound to find something that works for you.

10, 28 and 34 work for me... it depends, that said, i dont have much time for game design. My focus is content marketing and so many guises it holds. I know someone who makes a living selling 3D models but he is astonishingly good at the craft. If you have a strong skill and experience, market it.
