Updated on January 24, 2018

Do you want to improve your sales using social media? Are you looking for social media sites to share your products? In this article, you’ll discover where and how to promote your business.

Growing your business takes time. You can’t expect to start making millions of dollars right now. If you don’t have a highly specialized marketing staff, you are on your own. You need to educate yourself on marketing strategies if you want a successful business.

Social networking is so popular these days. People are joining social networks to find out information. If you want to promote your business, you must use social media. Don’t forget your conversation on social media should develop, expand, educate and entertain. You have to participate!

Leave comments on blogs you read. Reply to Tweets and Facebook posts. Answer LinkedIn questions. Your participation in social media will lead to sales.

Each of social networks will get your brand more exposure and allow you to communicate with prospects and customers. Social networks are free, easy to set up and widely used. There are many social networks, but I have chosen six of them.

1. Facebook

Facebook is a social network with over 800 million users. It has become the major player in the social media industry. All you need to do on Facebook is to set up a business page to connect with your customers. You can communicate directly with your fans. You also should take part in many Facebook groups to promote your brand and business. In this way you will be visible to many people.

2. LinkedIn

LinkedIn is a business networking tool with over 150 million users worldwide. You can create your profile, which is like a CV, and write about your experience, skills, awards, etc. Optimize your information by adding links to your website and blog. When you connect with someone, he or she becomes a part of your network.

LinkedIn has two features used to businesses for lead generation and customer acquisition:

  • LinkedIn Groups allow LinkedIn users to take part in discussions. Groups are a great way to make potential business connections.
  • LinkedIn Answers enable you to find people stating they have a specific challenge or need. It is one more great opportunity for your business.

3. Twitter

Twitter is a mix of business and social. You can market your message to many people at the same time quickly. You should visit this social network to sign up for a free account. Use the name of your business as your Twitter user name. Use your business logo as the profile image. Create a custom Twitter background that provides additional information about your business. Use tools like Hootsuite or TweetDeck to determine industry influencers and potential customers that your business should follow. Remember to tweet regularly.

4. Instagram

A mobile app is used increasingly by companies to boost their marketing strategy. We can install Instagram on our smartphones.

Instagram can help companies to reach their audiences through sharing images. Now companies can present a more personal picture of their brand. They can connect with their current and potential customers.

5. Social Bookmarking Sites

Websites such as Delicious, Digg, Slashdot, Diigo, and Reddit are social bookmarking sites you can use for promotion.

As we can read on Wikipedia, social bookmarking sites are centralized online services which allow users to store and share Internet bookmarks. Such sites typically offer a blend of social and organizational tools, such as:

  • annotation
  • categorization
  • folksonomy-based tagging
  • social cataloging
  • commenting
  • interface with other kinds of services like citation management software and social networking sites.

6. YouTube

YouTube is one of the most visited websites. You can now create engaging videos, dominate SEO, and send your videos surging up the search rankings on both YouTube and Google. On YouTube, you can put your advertisements, which are in sync with the content of the video requested.

Business Blogging for Promotion

If you want to promote your business, you should create and maintain your blog. Blogs are not social media sites, but they are promotional techniques to keep customers. A company can create a longer description of products, include testimonials and link to and from other social network and blog pages.

Blogs are easy to create. You can use Word Press for creating your blog. Go to Word Press and click on the “sign up” tab in the upper right-hand corner. You should choose a name for your blog relevant to your company and is inviting to readers.

A blog is a set of online articles. You need to write your articles regularly because your content should be fresh so your visitors will come back. People need to read this content and share it.

Encourage your readers to interact with you through questions, comments or feedback. Respond to their comments regularly.

Conclusion

If you want to promote your business on social media, you should focus on the major players such as Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn.
