Auricon Cameras, one of our best sales on eBay

Updated on June 6, 2013

A night at the auction

My wife, Tammy and I had been checking out auctions all day long. We decided to go to an auction house that we had been at a few times before.

as soon as we walked in the door, I saw them....a table full of Auricon cameras and sound equipment. We had been there just a few minutes when the bidding began on the cameras and sound equipment.

The sound equipment went too high but I got all of the cameras. We bought five cameras, got all of the manuals and some of the accessories.

We spent $79.00 total.

Tammy and I were just getting our feet wet on eBay at the time. Being a musician, I knew that professional equipment was most always valuable.

Inspecting the cameras

When we got home that evening, Tammy looked up the cameras on eBay. We saw what they were selling for and shouted, "YES" in harmony. Of course, I had not doubt that we had done good.

We inspected the cameras closer and came to realize that they were from the old Channel 7 News department. These were all, mostly field cameras.

They were 16mm sound cameras and were professional tools of their days in the 1950s and 60s.

The sale!

Tammy listed most of the cameras on eBay. We began getting lots of hits, then watchers, then bids. The bids were slowly rising throughout the week.

Bidders were asking questions and we answered them as best we could. The night the auctions ended was a family affair.

Tammy, myself, Dustin and Larkin ...our sons watched the bids go up. Our daughter, Leia was instant messaging us with,"Woohoos" throughout the bidding.

By the end of the night, our $79.00 investment had made over $2,000.00. That was our first big accomplishment selling on eBay. We had more later but selling the cameras remains one of our fondest memories of the business.

That was definitely one of the most fun times we ever had on Ebay, wasn't it? I'll never forget the evening those auctions ended, and all of us were huddled around the computer, in shock at the prices we were getting...lol!!!
