Best Part Time Jobs for Unemployed College Graduates

Updated on January 5, 2013

Graduate Unemployment and Underemployment

Being unemployed for an extended period of time after graduating from college can be very disappointing. Take heart, its not the end of the world. If you have the three resources called time, creativity and determination, you can earn money by working part-time on the internet while seeking employment.

Graduating from college, and especially with debt, and not finding employment sooner than expected is devastating. Unemployed college graduates may wait many months before they find a job they desire. Some may not find a job in their profession and may end up with low-paid entry level jobs or jobs not in their field of study. This can also cause job dissatisfaction and low morale and self-esteem. Even employers employing such graduates may not get maximum work output from them.

College graduates are under pressure to find employment sooner. However, in a tight job market like today, unemployment and underemployment of college graduates is common. Each year, more and more graduates are added to the pool of unemployed graduates. Students who graduate with student loan debts are under more pressure to find employment to pay off their debts.

Part-Time Internet Jobs

More and more unemployed college graduates and students are now turning to the internet to make money while studying or seeking employment. Unemployed college graduates and students have a higher advantage for success on the internet because they have the ability to learn new things fast and do in-depth researches. In fact, more millionaires have been created on the internet in this decade and some of these are students and college graduates who forsook their low-paid entry-level jobs to do find their financial freedom.

There are thousands of genuine money-making opportunities on the internet. An unemployed college graduate can find part-time jobs on the internet. When you are first starting out, beware also of internet scams. If someone says you can earn thousands of dollars doing very little work then it may be a scam.

One genuine part-time online job is Internet Marketing - promoting affiliate programs. It is an easy paid online work anybody can do to earn money, including students and unemployed college graduates. This can be done from the comfort of one's home, without major capital investments, and one can choose to do it full-time or part-time. I think this is one of the best part time jobs for unemployed college graduates. Promoting hot affiliate programs can quickly bring a student or an unemployed college graduate from "broke" and "debt-ridden" status to debt-free entrepreneur, having the freedom of time and money.

What You Need for Success

I have read articles of people promoting affiliate programs that all you need to make money online, whether full-time or part-time, is to have a computer and an internet connection. This is true, but I think the three most important things you need are:

(1) Time

Time is a resource every person has equally, 24 hours a day. What you do with that time determines your success in whatever you want to do. You can budget your time. Any extra time you have can be used to work on your part-time internet job.

(2) Creativity

The human mind has unlimited and untapped potential to think and do great things. Do not let your disappointments overshadow your dreams and what you can make out of life. Be creative. Do not think of the problem (unemployment). Think about the solution. Your greatest resource is your brain, your ideas and your creativity.

(3) Determination

Be determined to achieve your goals. If you are not determined to use your time to work on a part-time online work, then do yourself a favour and don’t start because you may not make it. You must have that determination to do something and achieve goals you set for yourself. Remain focused and be patient when results don’t come too soon. Remember the famous saying “a journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step”.

To conclude, college graduate unemployment or underemployment is a growing worldwide problem as every year, institutions are graduating more and more students. While seeking formal employment, you can freely find an online or internet job. You need three things to succeed and they are time, creativity and determination.
