Identifying the right keywords and key phrases for your topic is a very crucial task and a great starting point for SEO. One of the best ways to find keywords and key phrases is through keyword research.

In simple terms, keyword research is a process of finding and analyzing search words and phrases that bring visitors to a website. It is facilitated by tools such as Google Keyword Planner, Niche Finder, Wordtracker, and Ubersuggest.

Before writing your content, you need to use these tools to choose and analyze a few keywords and key phrases for your topic then include them naturally in your content.

Another important thing in keyword research is to come up with secondary and tertiary keywords and key phrases. These are basically the alternatives to your primary key terms or key phrases, and are also crucial in driving visitors to your website.

Creating quality content and performing on-page optimization are great ways to make your pages appear highly relevant to the search engines. In this section, I will touch on the title, URL, summary, and body copy, but focusing on on-page optimization. Remember, on-page optimization includes other techniques such as keyword research and link building, but these have been covered in other sections in this article.


It is highly recommended to choose a title that accurately describes the content of your page. The title also needs to be short but informative. In addition, it should not be stuffed with keywords as this can lead to your website being penalized by the search engines.


According to webmasters, it is important to create search engine friendly URLs that feature some of your keywords. Search engines crawl URLs, so you need to make them pleasing to the engines. Short URLs with the right key terms are highly recommended.


In most cases, a summary appears in the search results alongside the title. You should therefore make it informative and interesting. You should be able to tell what the page is all about in the summary. It is also recommended to add some of your keywords in the summary.

Body Copy

People enjoy reading well written and informative content. You should therefore create a copy that is free from spelling and grammar mistakes. Your content should also be unique and well organized and consisting of at least 300 words.

To improve the readability of your text, you need to include headings such as H1, H2 and H3, and it is recommended to add some keywords in them.

If your text features images and videos, it is highly recommended to describe them and add things such as alternative text (ALT text), titles, and captions.

Other things that you can add to your page include anchor text or internal links and tags. According to SEO analysts, these components should be descriptive, concise, and relevant. Moreover, if you decide to include link ads or even banner ads, you should ensure that they don't interfere with the readability of your page.
