Business Card Printing – A Portable Impression of Your Business

Updated on April 19, 2011

It seems like the sluggish economy has made competition for business even more cut-throat than it already was. The absence of a business card or the presence of a poorly-created one gives people you talk to a definite opinion about how you do business. It screams unprofessionalism to hand someone a business card that is dirty, crinkled, or has crossed sections to correct mistakes. If your business cards are out of date, or simply non-existent, you probably need to look into business card printing and pick up some new specimens to help leads you find, follow up with you.

The first thing you need to consider in the business card printing process is the information you want to include on your card. Traditionally, business cards have been simply transfer points for contact information. Obviously, you will need to include your name, business name, job title, phone numbers, email, and website information. This is still true, but innovative business minds have started using the business card to drive business toward a second contact so that they have a chance to close the sale. For instance, tag lines on the card can offer incentives for visiting the place of business, calling you back, or providing referrals, such as a free item, discounted services, or actual cash.

The look of the business card is also important. Your line of business and type of clientele should drive the design of your card. Flashy cards can draw attention, but if your business is of a serious nature, it could cause potential customers to move on rather to take advantage of your services. Overly simple or boring cards can also turn people off. Make sure to have your brand firmly established and presented memorably but tastefully on your card. Business card printing services are usually for cards you already have designed, but design services are also offered if you need help in this area.

The type of paper you use for printing will also affect how your finished business card printing project turns out. A traditional, premium, bright white paper is the base you should consider for your cards. Linen textures offer a step up in quality. Many modern businesses are going for a glossy look. A sleek, glossy white can be a great backdrop for elegant cards, but specialized glossy cards in distinctive patterns can also be very memorable. Whatever you choose, proofread meticulously. Then, hand them out to everyone you meet, generating the kind of business you desire. Statistics show that for every 2000 business cards you hand out, you increase your sales by 2.5%.

Great hub. I ordered business cards awhile back. Then my phone number changed. I had to rewrite my new phone number on the remaining cards. Using white out tape is great. Thanks Action Printing
