Call Center Life

Updated on April 16, 2016

The life of a Call Center Agent

I have been in the BPO industry for almost 10 years now. I was 30 years old when I started. I tried my luck applying to other companies but at that age and only a college undergraduate, I always receive an answer of " We are so sorry to say but you are not qualified."

Most of the companies here in the Philippines requires applicants to have a College Degree and at least 20-28 years old. Even if you apply to factories, they only accept 18-25 years old applicants. That actually made it difficult for people aged 25 and up to look for a decent job. Luckily BPO industry was introduced here in the Philippines giving people like me the opportunity to find work. A lot of companies accepts high school graduates and no age limit (18 up). As long as you can communicate in English well, pass the interviews and exams, your in. They offer months training for new hires before you get to answer calls from offshore customers and you already get paid on the duration of the training. The salary package this industry offers are mostly above the basic plus you get HMO's that starts on either your 1st day at work or after you get regularized.

Work environment is also great! A lot of homey people. Free coffee or chocolate drinks and snooze boxes where you can take a nap before and after shifts or during your breaks or lunches. Some centers also have gyms and showers. Usually have open door policy so you can always see and talk with big bosses. Schedules are usually graveyard especially if you work for US clients, mid day to night shift if you work for UK Clients and Day shift if you work for Australian Clients. Always have 2 days off and have extra program incentives coming from the company and the clients as well.

Here are the list of TOP 10 BPO's here in the Philippines:

1. Accenture Inc

2. Convergys Philippines Services Corp.

3. JPMorgan Chase Bank N.A-Philippine Global Service Center

4. 24/7 Customer Philippines Inc.
