Can You Really Make Money Trading Commodities Online? How To Get Started

Updated on September 14, 2009

So... where do you start? Just google around and find the marketplaces online where people place requests for this level of commodities. Try this google search without quotation marks:

online commodity brokerage urea rice wheat sugar

You'll come up with more than 4,000 links, and some of them, especially the ones nearest to the top, are to some fairly legitimate marketplaces.

I'm not giving you any particular and specific links since I haven't researched this subject to the extent where I am willing to place my imprimatur of endorsement on any one of these online marketplaces. I would have to delve in there, do a whole whack of deals, sort out the wheat from the chaff, and then make a full report on HubPages. But then again, if I did all those deals and got a few tens of thousands of dollars of cash in my pocket for each deal, I might just not manage to find my way back to HubPages. Hey, I love HubPages, but I'm a money grubbing mercenary every bit as much as the next guy!

Since this deal making process would take upwards of a year to be able to get a good perspective on the online marketplaces that are valid versus the ones that are a complete waste of time, I'm not going to keep my Hub readers waiting. The likelihood that I'm going to start spending 30, 40, 50 hours a week or more in chasing up guys who want to buy a dozen cargo ships full of fertilizer are not good. However, if there is anyone reading this Hub who thinks it's a good fit for their talents, then by all means go for it.
Please remember. I am not telling you that you are going to make one penny doing this. There are no guarantees in this type of business and don't come crying to me that you've wasted six months of your life and have no deals or money to show for it. However, this form of online Commodity brokerage has been going on for quite a few years, and you would figure that if it was all a scam it would have fallen apart by now.

Oh yeah... one more thing... I will confess. I do know one person who did do two deals last year while keeping a full time job: the proceeds were $78,000 in his pocket. He's told me all the secrets and exactly how he does it... but it's his own proprietary deal and I can't divulge a single iota of that information. Yes, I did sign a very similar NDA to the one above! Therefore I'm just as stuck keeping my big fat mouth shut as anyone else who signs any legal document of that kind. Let it suffice to say that the information I've included in this Hub is all accurate and will serve as a satisfactory introduction to what he is doing if you really want to do the homework, delve into the research, really learn the business and put in the time, effort, and elbow (or is that wrist) grease!

Therefore... my friend did do it. Could you?
