Choosing The Job You Want

Updated on December 5, 2006
Choosing a career you enjoy is important, because it not only defines you, but allows you to do what you like to do, as opposed to what you have to do. By working at a job you do not enjoy, you deny yourself happiness and slowly grow to detest work. By doing what you want to do, you can earn money and be happy working at the same time. As a child, everyone has a dream about what they want to be when they grow up. That dream may change with age, but it is the desire to do something enjoyable for a living that stays constant. Try thinking about what talents or abilities you have, then select the ones that involve hobbies or activities you enjoy. Finally, choose one job and decide how you can make a career out of it. If you enjoy photography, try selling your pictures or take photographs for an industry or institution. If you like to cook, work at a resturant and work your way up to chef position, or study culinary arts in school and apply for cook positions. As long as you're doing something you love, you will be successful.
