Do you really think technology replaces people?

Updated on September 13, 2009

People matter more than technology

I was reviewing my social networks this morning and my head started to hurt. Why because there is so much information and so many different technologies that I just couldn't track all the contacts I have made in reeducating myself on the web advances in the last few years.

Over the last 30 years I have watched the growth in technology. I have helped train hundreds of students in new (and old) technology. However the other night I was at a Market Day for NZATD and I noticed that it is still the people I know that truly matters. I believe that technolgoy helps us reach more people but we still need to deal with and value people. Small things - responding to emails in a timely fashion. Answering what is asked. Managing time with important people not just socialising, Documenting all business contacts.

Me belief is that many businesses today are closing their doors because they don;t have customers, people who buy from them reuglarly. They are constantly chasing new business and not supporting the people who already know them.

I would appreciate any thoughts on these observations.
