The idea behind any business is to sell the products or services they offer.

We are going to take a look at some of the most effective marketing methods to attain the goal of sales.

It doesn't matter if you have a small business or are in charge of a large corporation, these marketing methods can help you succeed.

Blog

Blogging isn't just for the housewife who has time on her hands. It can be used as a marketing method.

Just providing tips and tricks on your area of expertise will have readers knowing that you are the expert. When they do need a product or service that you handle, they will remember reading your blog.

You can also add a subscription service and have special offers sent to their email from time to time.

You don't have the time to make blog posts? That is a simple fix...Just hire a freelancer to handle the duties. As a matter of fact, I often write blog posts on a ghostwriter scale. You can view my Elance profile here.

Get Out Of The Store

Times have changed with technology, That store you have may be generating some business, but you need a website that also sells products or services.

If done properly, you can have your website at the top of Google standings. When a prospective buyer searches for certain keywords that relate to your business, you will generate sales.

I suggest using a freelance web developer. They are professionals who know how to drive your SEO to high levels.

When you are searching for a website and domain, I found some great deals HERE.

Humor

Whether you run a billboard ad, a television or radio ad or a newspaper ad, try using some humor.

When people laugh, they also buy.

Consumers usually buy from an emotional standpoint...not a logical one. When you can make a possible customer laugh, you are making the odds of a sale much higher.

Just consider some of the humorous advertisements you have watched...they entice you to buy don't they?

Referral Marketing

It just makes good business sense to always ask for referrals from clients and customers, but with referral marketing, I am talking about a different type of referral system.

Are you networking with businesses in your local area? Do you get to know other people that are in a similar line of business?

An example may be: You are an accountant and the printer down the street has a customer come in that asks them about good accountants. Will they refer you?

Work with others... you refer them and they refer you. It is a win-win marketing method for all.

Customers are the best advertisers

By offering your previous customers incentives when they refer other customers, you can create a "firestorm" of sales.

Simple incentives like a free ham or turkey for a referral that sells will show your customers that you care about them, and value their help.

Postcard Marketing

So many have forgot the simple marketing method of the United States Postal Service.

While many people trash emails and hang up on phone calls, almost everyone will read their mail. Sending a simple marketing postcard can generate high sales.

Throw in the trick of "bring this postcard for 10% off" and watch the postcards come back to you.

Social Media

Almost everyone has Facebook, Twitter, Linkedin and others.

Much like the blog, use these sources to awaken people about your products or services by offering educational material...and maybe some humor too.

Some Humor

This guy is walking with his friend.

He says to this friend, “I’m a walking economy.”

The friend replies “How so?”

“My hair line is in recession, my stomach is a victim of inflation, and both of these together are putting me into a deep depression!”

Final Thoughts

Marketing is the key to success in business.

Try these methods and let me know how well they work.

I hope they help...Now I am off to market my business.
