How to be a good business man? Top five killer ways!

I went to a shop recently and the shop was crowded. I am usually averse to crowds and thought of coming later when there would be fewer people. But I was in for a big surprise. The shop was spacious and there were sales girls everywhere, eager to help when I was searching for something. There was a big queue in the billing section and I thought I would have to wait for a long time. But I was again astonished when I was able to pay my bill and come out of the shop within ten minutes. The customer care was excellent and the shop had a new customer in me.
My experience in the shop made me ruse about the modality of a good businessman. I am not well versed in the techniques of a successful businessman, but I knew what to expect from a business from a customer angle. Any good businessman requires loyal customers to be flourishing. Not all have a thriving business, but there are certain categories of people who do extremely well. Why is it so? There are some expectations from the customers and when that expectation is fulfilled the rest of success falls into the slot.
1. Honesty and trust
Most businessmen think that they can fool the customer, but they are bound to be disappointed as today‘s customers are more aware and alert in knowing what they want. When you give them second class products they are more than ready to cast you away and move to another business.
You should be able to keep your word and keep up the time promised to deliver the products. If there is a delay due to unforeseen reasons it is your duty to inform your customers about the delay and also the reason for it. Do not keep your customers in the dark and think they have no other choice. Customers do have a choice and you have to hold on to them by giving them what they want.
You should check the products before delivering. The quality and the right quantity of the product you are delivering bring the customer coming to you again and again and word to mouth publicity from the satisfied customer can bring many more customers to you.
2. Customer care
You go to some stores and you see the sales person looking very serious and when you enquire about something their answer is terse and abrupt. You feel a surge of irritation and you do not enjoy your time there. You would not go that stores again as you hate the atmosphere there. You must make sure that the sales person talks in a friendly manner with the customers and a monthly meeting can be arranged to teach the sales person to interact in a friendly manner with the customers.
3. Good employees
Good employees are like manna to any business and when employees are well looked after they like working with you and are loyal to you. When you are too strict and stern with the employees they show their anger in reacting in a rude manner with the customers. When you are friendly and reasonable with your employees they show their satisfaction in caring for the customers.
Do not be too stingy in giving their salary and their payment should be reasonable and affordable. If you have loyal employees who stick by you, you have the comfort of thought that the customers are well looked after.
4. Good ambience and appearance.
You go to a store and you feel suffocating as there is no good ventilation and are too cluttered. You won’t like going there again. Today the appearance of the place of your business is extremely important to draw new customers and to withhold old customers. People are busy nowadays and when they go somewhere they want their time to be enjoyable and agreeable. They do not want their scanty free time to be wasted in an ambience which is stuffy and oppressive.
You should spend some money in making your ambience customer friendly. The façade of your business should beckon in customers and your friendliness should make them your regular customer.
5. Updating your business and offering a wide range of choice
Imagine yourself going to some store and you find outdated and obsolete products. You move away from the place immediately and go in search of a store which offers you the latest and wide range of products.
Even famous companies like Samsung, Panasonic and other such companies offer wide range of products. If they offer only one product you will not like that company. The customer comes in with a dithering mind and if you do not have a choice for him, he brands your business as old fashioned and outmoded.
You should keep on updating your business and lure the customers towards you. You should have the knowledge of the updated products and your employees should be well versed in the updated products.

Do not think that your customer is a fool and just a buyer who offers you business. He is actually your publicity agent who spreads the word about your business. When he tells his friend good things about you, the friend comes to visit you. When he enjoys his time in your stores, he tells another one and it forms a link that goes on and on. This is the important link any business man will want as it is the true promotion to your business and signifies your success and fame.
