Free Tips:: Making Money Online:: Part 8

Updated on August 20, 2012

I know, The Long Awaited Part 8

I'm sure you've been thinking "What happened to writing every day? Thanks a lot for the advice Faybe Bay!" Well I have been writing and learning and promoting. I now have a standing writing gig for Sunday's Leverage Broadcasts for TV Film News. You can find one of my latest articles here about the Google Plus Hangout with Leverage Star Beth Riesgraf.

So back to you and your writing. There's a perfectly good reason to get used to writing every day and writing multiple articles every day. If you don't get used to it how are you going to step it up? I mean if this is just a hobby for you then you can treat it as such. If you want to build something then you need a great foundation. That great foundation is those rules at the end of part 1.

We are currently on the one I took the most heat about :

You Must NEVER Pay for Anything!

I had a very good reason for adding that point. Yes, one day you will want a web site, I will in future give you viable options to hold you until you can afford to pay for one. Yes, you do want to increase your knowledge but I will give you free sources to further your on line education. Yes, down the road you may find scheduling conflicts but buying articles written by others, PLR rights or software that spins your articles (or worse other people's articles) just really defeats the purpose of being a writer in the first place.

To be clear, if you haven't figured it out yet, this is not for people who want to make a quick buck. It is not for people who hate to write. This is a map to success as a writer, starting here for free. You will grow, you will spread your wings, you will self promote and you will make progress. You will do all of this by the sweat of your brow, the cramps in your fingertips and the brains that God gave you (whoever you may deem that higher power to be). The reason you will do all of this the hard way is because the easy way doesn't work anymore.

Why do you think people are complaining about the new Google "animals" Panda and Penguin? Why do you think people are upset about the "new" adsense rules (they aren't new just newly enforced).

Why have my views doubled while everyone else's have dropped?

You don't see anything special here. No Clickbank ads ( I hate trying to sell things to my readers ). Today is the first time I gave you a link to my other work! I don't get paid there; I get a link from there!

This is not a backlink, it's a forward link. It comes from a website that is completely unrelated to Hub Pages and Google. Since I've been writing there we have increased our scores. There are about a half a dozen of us and the more we work together the higher the Alexa Rank!

Do you honestly think that happens from buying the items listed above? And the articles that people are reading here I wrote twenty months or more ago!

So, for now you will buy nothing! No website, no software unless it's Microsoft Office or Adobe! Of course you need tools but you can get Open Office for free from So that being said, buy nothing. You can either get it free if you look hard enough or it will be free soon.

Your Capsules here on Hub Pages.

I promised someone that I would talk about creating links. I want you to look to the right when you are creating a Hub. There are a whole bunch of buttons. Text is for a text capsule, video for a You Tube video or your own. Photos got in the photo capsule. All you have to do is click edit and then upload to put them in from your computer.

The one that will be most helpful for you is the links capsule. Often you are writing and the copy pasting the website into your hub. You can open the Links capsule, put the web address in the URL box and the title of the site or article in the title box. Then there's a box to say something about that link. Once you're finished adding links and descriptions you click save and it all becomes part of your hub.

The other way, as above when it says click "here" to be taken to my article: You "highlight" your text in the text capsule. A little chain link will appear on your capsule task bar. Click on that and enter the URL. Your text will turn blue and you can even test your link by clicking on it.

Your Homework

Okay, quick one today. Write a hub. Play around with some of the other capsules! Try adding some link capsules and at least one in text link. DO NOT FREAK OUT IF HP GIVES YOU AN ERROR MESSAGE! There are a few sites that HP doesn't allow redirects to go. They are not messing with your freedom, they are protecting the end users, your readers. Another reason that you will see an error is if you place too many links. There are rules but rules prevent chaos. I actually read an article the other day that was so full of links all the text was blue. If you scrolled along you could see the underlines dividing the links!

Add a video that accents your article and at least two photos, one at the top, in the "half" size photo box and one full size, also that compliments the article.

Post your hub links below and I promise to check them out, rate and comment as well as share.

See you soon!

Oh, if you have a passion for writing it isn't work! I don't know where the quote originated, although I did look it up once. Bill Ray Cyrus said that his daddy always told him "If you can make a living doing what you love, you'll never work a day in your life."

I loved doing construction! I took great pride in getting up before dawn, driving for an hour, working 10 or 12 hours and driving back home. I was exhausted, but it felt good. I made very little money at it when I started. I worked just as hard a few years later when I was making more money.

I'd do it again because I can see the value of long hours to reach a goal. I was amazed at what we accomplished as a team. You will be too. I've got your back here. I've even drawn you a map.

Absolutely! Sorry I was away so long. I've been learning things that will help us all! I always think of Olympic Athletes; they train their whole lives to get to that point, sacrifice EVERYTHING, plus they work at it eight hours or more per day. Then they go to compete and they medal or they don't, train four more years sacrificing everything and go and try again! If we can't do that too then we don't have what it takes to win!

The problem about some people is that they want to quickly buy success with money, but they have forgotten that success come through hard work and not money. Thanks for this great article.
